Watched Tag tonight. If I wasn't a fan of literally every single person in that movie, I'd probably have turned it off. It was funny at times, but I just thought it was dumb mostly.
I know it was based on the true story of friends who play tag for the past 23 years, but I think they forced it into being Rated R literally for no reason.
Jon Hamm, Ed Helms, Hannibal Burress, Jake Johnson, Jeremy Renner, Isla Fisher, Rashida Jones all are great. Wish they were in a better movie though.

Thoughts on the Joaquin joker teaser?
Jared Leto's joker I thought was really silly & dumb. I remember being super skeptical when I heard Heath Ledger was going to do it, then saw the first pic and was all in. Sort of the same feeling with Joaquin. Skeptical, but the teaser got me interested.
I know this is supposed to be a joker origin story and how someone Joaquin Phoenix's age plays a young joker is logic I'm willing to throw away.

I'm just so fucking tired of the same character being played by different people every two years. That's why I can't get into the 97 superhero movies that have been made in the last five years.

DC movies have been bad. They recast all the time. Marvel has had great consistency and that has helped their empire.
As for Joker, I'll give it a shot. I didn't hate Jared Leto as much as others did, especially seeing the extended version, and Phoenix could be solid.

The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises were the last two DC movies I loved (Dark Knight much more than Rises). With the exception of Wonder Woman which I enjoyed, I've found all the DC movies either boring or just plain bad.
Though I did like some parts of Suicide Squad (yes Margot Robbie in that outfit was one of them).
Joaquin is the perfect level of crazy to pull it off.

I look at it as the guy that hasn't watched Sopranos. So maybe I'll give it a whirl.

There hasn't really been a bad Marvel movie. They're all formulaic and easy to see the beats coming, but they're mostly watchable.
Some are very good. Guardians movies, Captain America movies, Thor Ragnarok. Watch them.
Though maybe you could skip Iron Man 2.

I got hooked into TNT's presentation of Dark Knight Rises. I can't think of a more perfect trilogy.

Dark Knight Bruce Wayne got those Cat Woman digits before faking a death. Aside from all the awesome things for humanity, nice...

Free Solo is visually insane.
Oscar winning Documentary about a guy climbing El Capitan without a rope.
Check it out. National Geographic Channel aired it commercial free Sunday and I think they're re-airing it this weekend.

I think I know which things are bugging you, but I can forgive them. It tied this whole phase of movies together nicely. Really interested to see where they go with the next phase.

So I decided to watch Fighting With My Family tonight. I'd give it a 4/10. It wasn't that great. The cast for Paige and her family was good, but I thought the story was the weakness.
Maybe if I hadn't been a wrestling fan I'd have liked it more. I know she got signed and her brother didn't, but they make it seem like she had never been to America before NXT, which wasn't the case (I know she wrestled in SHIMMER with her mom) and also she's a bleach blonde for like 30% of this movie, which I don't think happened either. Also they did one scene of her wrestling at a NXT house show, then boom, she got called up night after Mania. Which we also are supposed to believe she didn't get a major pop for her debut and froze during her promo before beating AJ for the title.
I know it's "based" on a true story, but it jumped around way too much and I didn't like how we're supposed to believe that Vince Vaughn's character was a former wrestler who once wrestled The Rock and dove off a 30 foot cell.
The story of her and her brother was the best part.

Tom Hanks deserves all of the awards for A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood.
I liked the Won't You Be My Neighbor documentary last year more but this was a great movie.

Feel like I've said this on here before, never seen a single Star Wars.
However you can't help but read social media when Last Jedi came out. Sounds like he fucked it up.
He's still in my good graces, even more so after Knives Out.

Yeah, people get really appalled when you haven't seen the big hits. Not being a big movie guy, there are a whole bunch of classics from the 80s and 90s that I've never seen.

Yeah for me the big series I've never seen are Star Wars & Harry Potter.
Went to the drive in with a bunch of buddies back in the day and fell asleep during one of the Harry Potters.

I understand not seeing Harry Potter, but as a kid of the 80s I assume you'd see a Star Wars movie by accident.

Yeah it's weird, it's just something I've never got around to. I will one day.
It's ironic because Woodridge can attest (remember the movie game, Ryan?), I'm a huge movie guy & have a vault in my head of useless movie knowledge.
But Star Wars, that's my kryptonite.

Richard Jewell was pretty damn solid. Great cast (huge Jon Hamm & Sam Rockwell fan and Olivia Wilde has been in my Top 5 hottest women in the world for like 15 years it seems). Plus the star Paul Hauser, is a huge AEW fan and has gone to some PWG shows and is a big time wrestling guy, so of course I support him.
Some reviews say it unfairly vilifies the female reporter, but I thought it was a really well done movie. Granted I was way too young to really remember the Atlanta bombing in 96, it was a pretty damn emotional movie. That guy & his mother went through hell.
I'd recommend it.
