Just got caught up on Aztec Warfare. I really liked it. It's a lot better than the past 5-6 years in the Royal Rumble. It's chaos at its finest. Only bad thing about it is that so much is happening all over the Temple, that guys like Jack Evans are taking huge bumps & the camera doesn't catch it in time.
Dario Cueto returning was cool, but I'm not sure really what to think about Matanza. On a show with so many monster & larger than life characters, he's dressed so bland. Also Dario is almost taller than he is!
I know they want him to be the new monster, but running through nearly your entire roster in 1 match, what makes me believe anyone will have a chance against him in the future?
Other than that I liked it.

Yeah that was the one criticism I had about Matanza.
He ran through all your top guys (except Mil Muertes and Pentagon Jr) fairly easily. I guess you can sell it as they were already worn down from being in the match and that made them easy pickings.

Former WWE and TNA star MVP announced during Walemania in Dallas that he had been working with Lucha Underground. Just one week after making the announcement, MVP revealed that his contract with Lucha Underground has been terminated.
MVP says that he violated terms of his deal by interviewing Lucha Underground cast members for his podcast, and by doing the interviews he breached a non-disclosure agreement included in his contract.
MVP added that he takes full responsibility for what happened, and feels he blew a very big opportunity.
MVP began working with Lucha Underground as an agent at the end of season two, and the eventual plan was for him to debut as an on-screen character.
Idiot.

Matanza Cueto pulled a Goldberg and sliced his arm open punching a window at the Lucha Underground tapings tonight.

SOMEONE WATCH LUCHA UNDERGROUND WITH ME THIS SEASON so I have someone to talk to about it on here. Season 3 just started last night. I'm going to watch all this season, as I fell off a bit last season (and was let down by Ultima Lucha Dos), but got caught up.
Dario is out of jail (after killing Mr. Cisco last season) and given his belongings by the security guard (played by Honky Tonk Man!). His lawyer got the charges dropped & he's back in the temple. He introduces a Dial of Doom (wheel with everyone's name) where whoever it lands on, gets a title shot against Matanza. It landed on Son of Havoc.
Son of Havoc vs Matanza Cueto - decent match, exactly what you'd expect from a strong man/high flyer. Havoc hits a bunch of aerial moves, but got caught by Matanza, who hit a reverse powerslam (Wrath of the Gods) for the win.
Highlights of Mundo/Black/Evans/Taya beating the shit out of Angelico, breaking his leg, slamming it in a car door. Mundo demands a title shot against Matanza, but Dario won't do it. So Mundo wants Sexy Star for the Gift of the Gods title, but Dario says no & instead makes Taya vs Sexy Star for the Gift of the Gods title, since she won her match at Ultima Lucha 2.
Ivelisse challenges Catrina to a match at Ultima Lucha 3 (which doesn't even have a date yet). Catrina appears out of nowhere & accepts.
Sexy Star vs Taya - not good. Sexy Star is awful. Watching her run the ropes is painful. Mundo's botched interference led to a small package by Sexy for the win.
MARTY THE MOTH!! So friggin creepy. Dario tells him Killshot wants his dogtags back Marty stole. Dario makes a Weapons of Mass Destruction match next week. Marty is a damn psycho, I love it!
Rey Mysterio vs Pentagon Dark - really good back & forth match where it'd get slow for a bit, but right when you'd get somewhat bored, get right back into it. Pentagon grounds Rey & gets into it with Vampiro, who leaves commentary to go to the back, wanting to distance himself from the situation. Rey hits a 619 followed by a Canadian Destroyer for the win. Pentagon got too distracted by Vampiro & that was his downfall. Pentagon attacks Rey post match, tries to break his arm, but Dragon Azteca (who Pentagon broke the arm of last season) makes the save.
Post-credit scene. We see Prince Puma alone in the locker room, Vampiro comes up behind him, saying he knows how it feels. How he's lost & needs guidance. Puma said he doesn't need anything from him. Vamp says Puma hasn't been the same since losing to Mil Muertes. Vamp said that's what he needs to do. It's all about Prince Puma. End of show.

Watched the premiere.
I really don't care about Mundo or his Worldwide faction. But I enjoyed the angle with Angelico getting his leg broke. It was the Horsemen breaking Dusty's arm in the desert.
Pentagon and Mysterio was pretty okay.
Who was in the limo with Dario in the beginning?

Catrina in those pants during the Muertes match. Holy smokes!
JOEY RYAN RATS ON HIS PARTNER, telling Dario that Cortez Castro is a cop! That sleazy son of a bitch!
Marty the Moth vs Killshot was a pretty wild (very long) match. Could've gone without the 9,000 military puns from Striker throughout though. Killshot with a double stomp off the ladder through a table was fucking awesome looking. All this for dogtags, but still, an enjoyable main event.
Now we get to the weird shit....
Ok, so we learn that Captain Vasquez is apparently 1,000 years old. She was given a pendant by her dying father 1,000 years ago, as he told her it only works on females & when she becomes older, she will live forever & for her to win the war. We cut to present day & she has HALF of the pendant.
Cut to the end credits scene, Mil Muertes says he wants Prince Puma but Catrina tells him he will, but be patient, because she's waited hundreds of years to get what she wants. CATRINA HAS THE OTHER HALF OF THE PENDANT!
So Catrina & Vasquez are apparently sisters. Catrina is evil & Vasquez is good.
Fucking weird, yet oddly enjoyable episode, minus Striker.

So I just watched Aztec Warfare. I've watched enough of this season that I knew who everyone was & their storylines, but I absolutely hated the ending of this match. You have Matanza & Mil Muertes as the two big monsters, Matanza gets eliminated about mid way after everyone hit their finishes on him basically, so that blew up in Dario's face, I get that.
But Sexy Star pinned Muertes to win the title. I'm not a Sexy Star fan at all, so that was absolutely ridiculous.
Also Matt Striker makes Byron Saxton sound like Gordon Solie. Striker is so awful I can't even start to describe it.
Aside from the finish & the dumb commentary, it's worth watching because of how just cool visually Aztec Warfare is. So damn chaotic (maybe too chaotic) but it's different from what we normally see, so I like it.

Seasons 1 and 2 coming to Netflix.
That should increase awareness.

That's excellent news. The biggest problem for them has been getting people to see it. Not many people have El Rey, so putting past seasons on a bigger platform will only benefit them.
Hopefully they'll be able to find a better network to air more episodes. Or just make it a Netflix show.

Season 4 has officially been greenlit.
This will be very interesting to see who comes back & who wants to leave.
Granted the way they handle contracts was ridiculous but happy for them.

I can't imagine "Matanza Cueto" will want to be back. Johnny Mundo is now Johnny Impact and Rick O'Shea will be making his way to WWE next year.
The AAA guys will be back obviously.
You're right it will be interesting.
