With Bret Bielema headed to either Michigan or Nebraska, who will be named the next head coach for Hawger's beloved team?

A bunch of Peter Principle failures on that list.
Simple question for any major hire: Who has proven they can recruit the very top tier athletes and win as a top assistant or head coach at a major program? No others should be considered unless you want another Peter Principle failure like Hoke or Dooley or the doofus at Illinois. When will ADs understand that going .500 at Bumfuck Tech does not qualify someone to step up to be the top guy at a major program? And of course the media feeds the ignorance with lists like this.
Gene Chizik, Mack Brown and Jim Tressel are the only ones on that list who have proven they can recruit and win at a major program consistently. They have done the job and succeeded. None of the others can say that. If I'm hiring someone, I want a proven winner, not a reach. And no Big Ten school is hiring Tressel, while Mack is probably done by his own choice and nice pension and TV gig. That leaves Chizik as the most prime candidate on that list for any major job in the Big Ten or anywhere else.

That is some hire by Nebraska. I'm not a college football guy, but it seems like the opposite of good. Stunningly bad.

How come Tressel isn't coaching anywhere? By the way, you can vote for up to 3 choices.

Ok Hawger, let's just pretend that Bielema is leaving. Now who would you want on that list?

Apparently Nebraska has fallen so much to be such a bad job that a .500 coach in the Pac Ten is the best they can do. And really, it has. Most coaches who are worth hiring already have good jobs. Make a list of the top 40 coaches and ask yourself why any of them would leave for Nebraska?

Somebody close to the Nebraska AD probably floated Bielema's name to his buddy reporter to publish the name to see if BB was interested. That is the new method for ADs to try to get the guy(s) they want to call back without direct tampering. They use the media as their tool.
