I went over to that site and looked around and read several threads. Very different from the days when there were logical discussions, humor and camraderie. Now it seems like mostly who can be the biggest smartass or have the snarkiest or rudest comeback to somebody else. Always had a few people like that, but now the site seems to be mostly that, or the people who behave like that seem to ruin every thread. Hey I have my moments of rudeness too, but over there being rude or snarky seems to be the predominant ethos.

As much as that group wants to make fun of me for pointing that out years ago, that is a huge reason I left. Substance and good content started getting lost in 18 replies of someone trying to be funny - but like snarky, rude, jackass funny. It's just not like that here. Realized visiting that board on a daily basis was a negative in my life. Haven't looked back. Some great people over there but too much shit to filter through that frankly I don't want to be a part of. To each their own. |

Well it looks like they finally killed it. I took a beating for telling folks not to engage with the former leader. Too many egos, and now they tanked the whole site.
Reading Ryan's post above, and it is so true. Too much trolling. Too many personal attacks. Very little serious discussion or real sports debates. Yet I still love it.

I'm occasionally told to check that board. Whenever I do, I remember why I left. I also see a couple people I'd like to interact with again.

Yep looks like they either killed it or are changing over and/or moving domain. My last post last night eerily posited that the triumvirate thing was all BS and BF was simply stopping it all along. In the initial change announcement he mentioned he had it paid up for a little while and maybe that ended. Either was the last week or two was stupid and didn't feel the same anyhow. |

Honestly what didn't feel the same? If the former owner of the site didn't come out and announce new ownership, would you have known anything was different? Judging from what I know, the former owner didn't like the direction the new owners took and tried to renegotiate the terms of the deal. He couldn't handle not having any control over board content, so he will shut down the domain name. He's like my 5 year old who gets mad that he didn't catch the ball so he takes his ball and storms off. |

Again, Denis, you're my guy, but can you please stop spewing this dumb narrative? Are you incapable of reading what happened? This had nothing to do with "fighting" or whatever. Bigfan couldn't handle not being in control, threw a tantrum, and went back on a deal he had already agreed to. If you find fault in that scenario with anyone other than bigfan, then you need to learn to perceive situations and people better. |

Wasn't a huge deal really but was just a feeling. Wasn't enough to make me want to quit or something before it went down so oh well. Maybe I am getting too old for stuff? Anyway, Jackref I haven't defending anything or ever been accused of being a BF puppet so I assume that was at someone else. Like anything else I will hang around and see how it goes. For me, a chicago sports message board has been a nice connection to my former home. |
