It's wild to remember how much of a cultural icon Uek was in the 80s.
Not that he isn't still revered, but it was insane. They made a network TV show around him as the star!

Mr. Belvidere, Major League, Bud Light commercials, Wrestlemanias III and IV...Ueck was everywhere.

He was on Carson over a hundred times or something. It's nuts how popular he was!

He's 90 now and by all accounts will still be calling the Brewers home games.

He is really the last of a generation. I know the guy in KC has been going long as well, but honestly he doesn't have nearly the cache Uecker does.
He's like Hawk. A character. Except he never seemingly got bitter and angry. Just always a nice man.

The awesome thing is we don't have to wait until a person's no longer here to salute them.

I laughed way too hard and way too long at that. It's so good I want to share it on FB after not being on for years just to clear out the friends list.

Hot take: JBL's 2004-05 title reign was better than Jinder Mahal's 2017 title reign.

Peeps, I'm not familiar with the story. So an alderman had a protest at City Hall and he burned a flag, and the Mayor defended it? Just want to make sure I have the story straight.

Byron organized a protest to other alderman holding a press conference. A flag was burned at the protest. I care less about the flag burning part than the alderman organizing it, as well as BJ sticking by him. And then bringing race into it.

I didn't know what thread to put this in but you fantasy baseball people better secure Abner Uribe while you still can. Tough news on Devin tonight. I took your suggestion. Thank you.

Hot take: JBL's 2004-05 title reign was better than Jinder Mahal's 2017 title reign. Are you being sarcastic? Nope. I 100% feel that way. I've been watching some 2004 WWE recently, and I revisited the start of the JBL character through the end of the year. Storyline wise, the transition from the APA character was well-done. Heyman fired Faarooq on Smackdown, and Bradshaw was forced to choose between his best friend or his career. His first promo as JBL explained everything well. The first part of JBL's reign, including the feud with Eddie, was pretty good. The matches are underrated, IMO. It's when the Eddie feud ended and JBL started feuding with Taker that the wheels sorta fell off. On the other hand, I don't remember anything redeeming about Jinder's reign except for him losing the title.

Is that a hot take? I thought that was just a commonly held belief. I've seen a small sect of people who now think Jinder's reign wasn't as bad as we remember.

Pfft.
Everybody knew what Roman could be. Unfortunately, Vince had it in his head to do something different and took forever to get to the logical place he should've been 4 years earlier.
