First of all, there's been WAAAAY too much horse racing, soccer, and LeBron James talk the past seven days. But this made it worth it. The morning show has Tom Durkin on, including a big intro with a horse racing call. He says "guys, I hate to get your producer in trouble, but that wasn't me calling the race!"

Once Mac leaves and if it's permanent I will no longer be a Score guy. I'll check in here and there but there will no longer be any appointment radio. I'll be music primarily until football kicks off. When it's football season M&H are good and then onto WSSP mid-morning and afternoon for Packers jabber.

ESPN1000 and The Game are what I listen to when I do listen to sports radio. Which isn't very often anymore.

Looking back it's pretty noticeable how I've reduced my sports radio consumption.
Perhaps it's the subject matter? The sports radio stations have strong ratings so I guess we're in the minority on this one.

I used to listen to sports radio basically all day. Monsters from 10-2 and HFC from 2-6 back in the day, and B&B and MJH more recently.
No more.

I've made it no secret that I can't stand the 400lb vagina most of the time. I still like Mac but not with grimace. Bernstein has just made the entire station intolerable though and I used to love him. He needs to understand that his asshole cinicism was only funny because he was ripping on murph and north....those ships sailed years ago and now he has become dan maddow. Ripping the callers is also bad radio when you do it all the time.

I heard this morning that they're still calling it the Spiegel Show w/Dan McNeil. But then Matt Abbatacola was on with the great Spiegs.
Has this situation not been resolved yet? Is Mackeyfish staying or going?

I know we have some Mac guys here. Honestly, I enjoy Spiegel and Friends. I'd be just fine with Mac switching to afternoons at 87.7. It might be good for all of sports radio.

When it comes to Dan McNeil, the drama never ends.
The $300,000-a-year franchise player at CBS Radio sports/talk WSCR AM 670 is missing again from the midday show he co-hosts with Matt Spiegel. McNeil’s last broadcast was June 13 — just two days before his contract with the Score expired.
While the latest guessing game about the mercurial Danny Mac drags on, various guest hosts have been filling in alongside Spiegel from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays.
Rod Zimmerman, senior vice president and market manager of CBS Radio Chicago, confirmed that conversations with McNeil are ongoing. McNeil’s agent, Bryan Harlan, did not respond to a request for comment.
McNeil’s last extended absence had him off the air for seven weeks while he underwent treatment for addiction to prescription narcotics. He returned from rehab in December vowing to redeem himself in the eyes of his bosses, co-workers and listeners. In addition to battles with substance abuse and depression, McNeil made headlines over the years for numerous suspensions for his conduct on and off the air.
“You’d think you’d get used to doing this, as often as I have come back from extended absences, whether it’s treating my addiction or having issues with suspensions up the dial for a number of years,” he said after his last comeback. “But it doesn’t get any easier.”

Les's producer just played a canned update from July 4th. Les is having a meltdown. Safe to say, Adam Harris is laughing somewhere.

Les is just getting worse and worse. He seriously needs to stop being Lesopedia Grobtanica. It's getting disgusting.
Caller: Les, how about that Kris Bryant? Les: Well SouthSide Sam, back in 1938 the Cubs had a guy by the name of Fast Hands McGraw and......
Just fucking stop, Grobstein. I'm not afraid to fight you while your pants are full of caca.

WSCR-AM/670 The Score has announced that the Chicago Bears' recently retired long snapper Patrick Mannelly has joined the station. Mannelly will have a few roles with the station during the upcoming football season.
The Chicago Bears drafted Mannelly out of Duke University in the 1998 NFL Draft. He was a starter his rookie season and played every game that year. In fact, he has played in just about every Chicago Bears game since 1998, missing very few due to injuries. Mannelly holds the record for the most games played as a Chicago Bear and is the longest tenured player in team history.
Less than one month ago, on June 20th, Mannelly, announced his retirement from professional football.
He may be retired from playing football, but Mannelly, 39, is far from retired from working. The longtime local gridiron star now joins WSCR-AM as a Bears and football expert.
Each Sunday before a Chicago Bears game, WSCR-AM has a pre-game show with Hub Arkush and Dan Pompei. Patrick Mannelly will now be the third co-host of that show. (The Bears games themselves are heard on WSCR-AM's sister-station WBBM-AM/Newsradio 780.)
In addition, Mannelly will appear on WSCR-AM talk shows during the week to discuss the current football season, as well as contributing a weekly Bears blog to the station's website.
Mitch Rosen, WSCR-AM Program Director, said today: "I love this move for our station, here is a Chicago Bears player who retired less than 30 days ago, played 16 years in the NFL and now is on The Score team. This season could be an epic season for the Bears and to have a former player like Pat analyzing the team is a huge win for our listeners and the Chicago Bear fans."
Mannelly previously had had a taste of radio work in the last few years, contributing a regular weekly morning appearance on "The Eric & Kathy Show" on WTMX-FM/101.9 The Mix. The segment during the football season was called "Mannelly Mondays."
