Getting ready to leave my room here in Vegas but have been enjoying this match by Silas Young and Gresham. These guys are telling a great story in the ring. The announcers are portraying this as real and aren’t being over the top. I love Young’s character. This is definitely how I prefer to watch a wresting TV show. Not sure how rest of ROH is but this was really enjoyable.

Thinking more about what i saw today and it got me thinking a little bit about the disconnect on how the WWE can’t put together a compelling story. I feel like Vince treats it too much like television from a creative and production aspect. Wrestlers are more than just actors. The reality is he shouldn’t silo of the teams so much. Reminds me of how the best projects I’ve been involved with at work had input from all the major players involved. Ultimately you have a project manager, but everyone gets on the same page to achieve something.
Why don’t they instead start by deciding who they want on the next PPV card? The assign creative and an agent to that story. Then what you do is have a meeting with creative, the agent, the two WRESTLERS and anyone other talent involved (broadcast team too), throw in Trips and Vince. Have creative pitch the initial concept with a couple of avenues of the story. Talk it through in a 60-90 minute meeting covering the story, in-ring story, potential match types, everything. Get everyone involved. At the end of the day Vince/Trips/creative gets to make the final call. I just feel like we’d have more interesting, potentially original stories. You’d have a better chance of buy in from all parties and everyone working together to get there. From what we’ve heard in podcast and read, it just seems like the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. This isn’t really that hard. As business like as they try to act, they actual function in a dysfunctional way when it comes to telling a good story. Seems like they don’t utilize talent behind the scenes as much as they should - or used to.

Honestly, that sounds like too many people to create something. It doesn't matter if you have a good idea in wrestling, the corporate world, etc. If too many people are involved, it's doomed to fail.

If you had a wrestling company Woodridge, I'd love to work for you. I dug a lot of that.
Problem with the WWE is that it has so many writers, yet it all has to be approved by an elderly man, who can't hold a storyline together for more than 2 weeks due to his dementia. They are all yes men and are afraid to pitch or do anything in fear of losing their job or being berated (ie RD Evans).
What sucks is there are so many wrestlers (talented wrestlers) on this roster and they focus on maybe 3-4 females at a time for example, don't care about the others, then just pluck them out of the pack to get beat and do nothing with, then they fall to the back of the pack. Same goes for the men, they don't do anything with a lot of these guys if a belt isn't involved.
It seems like they've lost the art of building up someone over time. They are so focused on 50/50 booking that it does so much more harm than good (I have no doubt Ricochet will pin Roode Monday, which in that case, what did the last 2 weeks accomplish?)
Vince has gotten so complacent since WCW has folded & his age is only making it worse.

Not at all. You have to have a leader in the room who has final say. That person would be present. If 5-7 people can’t be in the same room to accomplish something that’s a pretty terrible business.

PWInsider.com is extremely saddened to report Adrian McCallum, best known within professional wrestling as Lionheart, passed away overnight at the age of 36. The cause of death has yet to be officially announced. Bunch of UK talent tweeted to The Rock to see if he'd say some kind words for his family as he was a huge fan. Like always, Rock came through. Really sad story.

Why would his family care about The Rock saying something nice?
Cool of Rock to do so but it's weird.

It blows my mind that some of you enjoy shit like invisible spears in a wrestling ring. I just can’t. If AEW ever shows anything like that on tv I will be highly disappointed.

In a comedy match with no implications it's fun.
When you put that in a serious feud with a title on the line is when it is preposterous.

It's something fun and different. I don't think independent wrestling needs to be serious all the time. And when it's a show like a Joey Janela Spring Break where Invisible Man wrestled Invisible Stan, it fits in because the crowd expects some comedy. And it's only one match, not a multiple match thing. I agree with you 100% though in that AEW doesn't need that type of stuff when they start. I think that kind of comedy wrestling has its place, just in the indies and not AEW.

Not in this one. He's acting more puddish than normal. Guys like the Bucks and Joey Ryan are firing on Cornette too. It's a bloodbath.

I personally think the spears, Invisible Stan or whatever it is, slow motion matches, Joey's dick, the 24/7 title, Hornswoggle running through walls, Little Peoples Court etc..... I find all of it to be absolutely ridiculous and insulting.
All that said, I guess I really don't care if it's going on in the indies as I'll never see it. So let people enjoy it if that's what floats their boats.
All I know is I don't want any of that in AEW.
