Well, I don't see why they feel the need to go with "4000" points. I don't see any rhyme or reason for that.

There's 4 races left. We're now entering what's called The Eliminator round. That encompasses the next 3 races. If any of the remaining 8 drivers win one of the next 3 races, they automatically advance to the Championship Title race. Other than that, drivers will advance on points.

So after the next 3 races, 4 more drivers will be eliminated.

The remaining 4 will race for the Championship at Homestead-Miami in the final race. The highest finisher of that race will win the crown!!

So at all of the 4 cut offs they reset the guys still standing back to even status. They pick an outrageous number to separate the rest of the field from them and this allows the leftovers to compete for points as each place you finish at the end of the season means a bunch of money.

You will have places:
17th through last place battling it out in a points group
13th-16th battling in a points group
9th-12th battling
5th-8th (i think that comes after 2 more races)
1st-4th

Its so no one thats been eliminated can catch anyone from a group that advanced beyond them.

If they are the same car then they are the only single lock. You can't have a bum in 16th knock out a guy who lead the entire season heading into the chase.

I agree. Kenseth, Newman and Hamlin have no business to be in position to win this thing. Kenseth & Newman haven't even won a race all damn year. You shouldn't be able to win a title by playing it cautiously. There needs to be a payoff for going for it - and succeeding.

One Chase driver per contestant. No two contestants can have the same driver.
