He better take him to task with his interview today. This is not the place for a jovial reach around interview. RRR is entering a go big or go home year. Its all on him to make this better. I want answers to how he is going to fix some of the glaring and seemingly fixable issues of poor fielding, horrible base running, inability to bunt and awful pitch selection. Those things are all fixable to an extent. All season he had chicken shit responses to post game questions and did nothing but defend mental errors and poor approaches by his team.
There will also be plenty of PACKERS talk for PACKERS fans to listen to and for PACKERS fans to discuss among PACKERS fans.

The fielding is probably not something he can fix. The mental errors, the baserunning errors, and the bunting he should as a MLB manager and lifer coach be able to make better. Plate approach is probably on both. Melvin brought in guys with poor plate approaches but RRR and his staff should be able to help them make some adjustments. I am basing my issues with him off of his post game comments. When Gomez bunts down a strike with the bases loaded and 2 outs in one of the most important at bats of the season and RRR's response is " well he knows better what to do in that situation than I" then I am going to have huge concerns with him.
I don't think he needs to micromanage everything like a dictator but he has to have a model for winning and he has to hold the players to that model. I don't think a hands off free for all is managing...its babysitting.

How do we know what he has, you been in the clubhouse, I know I haven't. Just because he states something publicly doesn't mean it hasn't been addressed privately.

Hence me saying I am basing that off of HIS COMMENTS. He seems pretty honest and open when he is interviewed. He isn't short on words and doesn't seem to be hiding from questions ever. Things also never improved over the season so if he did say and do something then it didn't work. He is a super nice guy and a great right hand man as a bench coach but I just don't think he has the tenacity to be a successful manager.

So he said he had "discussions" with players.
He did put the blame on the middle of the lineup not coming through.
I don't like his explanation for the mental errors being youth. Gomez, Reynolds and Rickie are well established vets. I think I could live with Khrush and Segura's baserunning errors but Gomez is my hang up. Aside from his good fielding just about every beef I have with this team is exemplified by him.

I am convinced that Gomez is Sosa without the juice. Talented enough to do things the wrong way and still experience success, but not a guy I want up there with a game or the season on the line.

He is the player you can trade that should bring the most value. I have also heard that was a major problem in the clubhouse as the season wore on. I think his act has tired.

Other than Hawger's "sources" I haven't seen or read a story about Gomey being disruptive. He brings things to that team that absolutely nobody else does: fire, passion, fun, enthusiasm.
I know the stories about letting Gomey be Gomey etc......but all I want is for him to become a smarter player. Doesn't mean he has to completely reign it in but just make some better decisions both at the plate and on the basepaths.
Just hard to believe he's our biggest problem. Also hard to believe that his value could be replaced, especially with his extremely team friendly contract.
GP.....2nd AB.....2nd Runs...1st Hits...2nd HR.....1st RBI....2nd TB.....1st BB.....2nd SB.....1st BA.....4th OBP....2nd SLG....1st OPS....2nd OWAR...2nd

He is not a situational hitter or even baserunner. I don't think you are going to be able to change him. You can't count on him when the stakes are raised. Look how god awful his AB's were in crunch time towards the end. That bases loaded bunt bullshit is quite possibly one of the worst AB's I have ever seen in my life.

Supposedly Gomez was one of the ones Melvin and Attanasio were talking about when they mentioned finding out what players want to be there.

I guess if you're really going to move Gomez, then you need to get a stud 1B. Not sure what else we really need.

The Unit has been just lighting up Jameis Winston on twitter, his blog and now the show since yesterday. Winston does seem like a piece of trash. I would hold off until Sunday to punish him though. 1 rape cover up school playing another.

How much possibly would the Dodgers eat of Matt Kemps contract?

Kemp might work really well here. RRR is sensitive enough of a manager to deal with him. puig and gomez on the same team....those 2 could take dumb baseball to a new level.

This years version of clay sucks. He no longer has the closing speed. He really needs to have that to be effective.
