He was a first base coach. He is the reason they wear helmets now. It was awful. Luckily I was in the clubhouse with the starting pitcher and not out there to see it. He was watching the runner and a lefty hitter smoked a rope right into his lower skull/neck area.

One day I heard them discussing if Stevie Wonder is actually blind because I guess on a few occasions he's done things that would suggest otherwise. (Like something falling and he reaches out to catch it) Anywho, Romney said that Tim Allen kind of has that sense. After listening to that segment, I'm under the impression that Tim is at least 99% blind. I think he drives though. Found it!! June 20, 2007 12:00 am(0) Comments It took only two years for Deidre Enriquez's world to morph from factory crew to Brew Crew. When Intermet bolted town, it became the third Racine-area manufacturer to rip a job out of her hands by closing or downsizing. That was the straw that broke the factory worker's back. I wrote about Enriquez in 2005 as she began the process of training for a new career. To me, she represented all of the county workers who've had to scramble since economics began bleaching blue collars white. A federal re-training program paid for her classes, but it was up to her to sniff out a viable profession. She settled on radio broadcasting. Though she's already been through the ceremonial graduation hoopla from Gateway Technical College, Enriquez still has a few classes to nail down before the associate's degree is on paper. One will be taught by the guy who has given her a foot in the door. Tim Allen, a host on sports talk radio station WSSP, took on Enriquez as one of a handful of unpaid interns. Racinians might also remember him from his days at FM station 104.7, The Wolf. Last week, during a late-evening Brewers postgame show, I bummed around the station in Hales Corners to see how his pupil's transformation was coming along. Briefly handling the phones, Enriquez gave Allen the scoop on the next caller: "Line 2, Tim, Sam from 'Tosa." After a Brewers win, the calls were relatively tame. Even during slumps, callers apparently save their abuse until they get on-air. "Half of 'em want to meet me," she said. She's learning to splice together promos using game highlights, music and any other sound that's lying around. It's not too glamorous, but it's miles closer to where her passion lies than her old gig. A couple of years removed, I asked if she liked assembling the adapters for diesel trucks. "It wasn't my first choice," she said, "but I was good at what I did." She might have to dip back into that world while she digs for a decent radio job. The government pays her $200 a week beyond tuition costs, but she can't get a paid position until she finishes school. That leads to some shuffling. "One week you pay this and the next week you pay that," she said. "You can't get blood out of a beet." One top priority for those funds is the gas tank. Because Allen is mostly blind, Enriquez makes trips to Kenosha to pick him up and drop him off.All part of the curve for "D'ville," her new radio moniker. Allen, who also teaches at Gateway, said it's a volatile industry and hands-on is the only way to learn. "Within a short window, you will know if you have 'it,' " he said. There's an ounce of hope in that another newcomer found that thing, whatever it is. One of Enriquez's old co-workers settled in at another radio station and has a line on some voice-over work. When the switch to the service sector is complete, there's no time to exhale. Insiders have told her it's a given she'll be fired from at least one station. Lost jobs is a section of her resume that needs no more padding. journaltimes.com/news/local/assembling-a-change-in-careers/article_fba0607f-44bc-5903-b33d-b906e956a13f.html

The Unit still will not explain why he isn't in AZ. I think it is fairly simple, nobody signed up to go so his free trip went out the window.

So Unit brought up the possibility of Ryan Howard to the Brewers. Then Radio Joe said that Howard wasn't actually linked to the Brewers but that the Phillies were willing to eat like $50 mil of his contract.
And now.......................Unit is yelling at people that are tweeting or texting him to bring in Howard. And Unit is having a fit at those people....................even though he brought it up in the first place.
What a tool.

It would be a 2 yr 10 mil deal if they ate 50m. They would have to probably send a top prospect though.
