There will NEVER be one.
If you feel the need to argue until you are red and blue in the face, please use that other place to do so.
IF there is a thread that's started ONCE IN A BLUE MOON, the discussion in those threads will remain civil and on point.
Thanks!

Don't even crack the window with that 3rd sentence. There's enough places online to get one's fill of political talk.

All those in favor of like 1 political thread - say once every two months - say Aye. Those against political threads of any kind - say Nay

Nay. The reason for this place is to be positive and not act like dickbags to argue for the sake of arguing. Differing of opinions is fine, just don't be a dick about it. Simple. Politics, religion, etc just open the door for asshatery.

I'm against having a "no politics and religious talk policy". We can be adults about it.
The content isn't what ever caused issues...it was the participants and how topics devolved into something they were never meant to be.
Watch out for personal attacks...the rest is fine, within reason.
Mr. Reason.

Nay.
I never read one interesting thought in the Politics section.

If someone wants to talk about politics, I'm fine with it.
I'll be moderating it carefully to avoid dickishness.

I vote to allow it. I don't mind the bickering, and I actually tend to learn from the politics threads.

We'll stick with the original post, but hopefully based on the responses, this will be a VERY FEW and far betwwen thing. And though Speeps will be moderating it, I will be moderating him.

I think once we start adding a billion sections its starts to get isolated. I like the idea of less sections. Then there is more crossover. For example, I appreciate the Colts section, but I am going to be the only to most likely give a damn in there. I probably have a better chance of starting a Colts thread in the NFL section and getting others to discuss since they may venture in that section more regularly. Just a thought.

Yeah there won't be a separate section.
The threads should be in the General Section.

It's tough though not to have a lot of sections. It is the Midwest board after all.

Can sections be moved after the fact? that way we can have the Colts thread in the NFL section, and if it gets popular, give it it's own section. Maybe... Just a thought.

I could see rolling up Laurence, Les and Jason into the other sections as well. Or aside from the big shows, maybe a "Other 670" and "Other ESPN1000" section.
In general, I just prefer operating as lean as possible. It's hard to explain why, though.

I missed the vote!!! I will write in a late nay. If its far and few between you could always invoke a Chief Quimby clause and have the threads self destruct after they become dormant just as an act of cleansing.
The problem I see with them is that almost all of the sports and entertainment threads are commented on from a 3rd person perspective. We are watching something or hearing something and giving thoughts on it but are not directly involved. The politics and religion stuff becomes personal and is more subjective than objective.
I trust with this quality assembled legion of posters that the far and few between discussions will remain objective and not turn into 2 sides posting 100 responses each trying to convince the other why they are correct.

Bill Michaels probably deserves his own section. He is kind of a big deal around here.

Agreed, Kesha. More than likely, it would not get out of hand. But.........It gets way too personal way too quickly. It also seems to seep into other sections. Maybe I'll just start my own board.

My OCD is also suggesting to organize the threads under sports... maybe by sport, or city, etc.
