Marian Central faces Bremen Friday night in 5A. It'll be on High School Cube... After that, likely another showdown with Montini. UGH.  |

Lets look at the top quarter of the 5A bracket. We have Montini, Marian, Joliet Catholic and Kaneland. 3 out of 4 of those teams won't make it to round 3. The other quarter of that top half, while not the gauntlet from hell, is no cakewalk either with Glenbard South, Sycamore and Lincoln Way West. Giving Brooks a home game in round 1 is a joke and it puts Sycamore into round 3 with virtually no effort. Having Morgan Park even in the mix with their 5-4 public league record is also a joke. They could have spread things out a little better up top IMO.
I thought going into the season that Kaneland would make a good run with the O-line and strong running game they have always been missing come playoff time but injuries and average qb play probably mean that the season will end in round 2 again. I think they have lost 3 offensive starters for the season including what sounds like their best player and rb. At least they most likely play Joliet Catholic in round 2 which is matchup I have always wanted to see.

Wheaton North representing 7A. Home game Friday against Glenbrook North.
They made it to the quarter-finals last year, where they lost to eventual state champion Glenbard West 3-0 in a sloppy game on a muddy field.

This game is going to go on all night long. Every single play is a penalty. I highly doubt there is callable holding on every play but rather the 3 and a half bill officials need a breather after every play. These guys have to power walk after every play. They can not run.

There have been 4 more penalties called since I mentioned the initial 10. Its literally every other play for both teams.

Bremen is being a bunch of punks. Two ejections on consecutive plays...30 yards in penalties, followed up by a another TD. Marian up 42-0.

Thats not cool. You usually never see high school ejections let alone unsportsmanlike penalties. I have never even heard of Bremen. Where are they out of?

Bremen has had 5 unsportsmanlike penalties on 6 plays. 3 ejections.
Midlothian. 153rd and Pulaski.

Classy coaching staff right there. No reason they should have the 8 seed either. They need some kind of consistency with how they do that because giving teams in shit conferences high seeds screws up the later rounds.
That school is near alsip....

6 MCHS touchdowns, 4 Bremen turnovers, 4 Bremen ejections. 42-0 Marian. All 4 ejections happened within 10 plays. The 2nd ejection happened, the refs reset the ball...and then the 3rd ejection happened before Marian called a play.

I used to live 5 miles north. I never knew EP was that close to Alsip.  We used to be in a conference with EP when I was a jr/sr...no idea why. Weirdest conference ever location wise. |

I guess their conference isn't as bad as I initially thought. When did Lemont start sucking? They were beasts for years. Reminds me of last week when Morris went to 3-6 as well with a running clock loss to Kaneland. That should never ever ever happen to Morris. They were in the title game last year. They probably haven't had a losing season in 40 years.
