It's weird, I didn't feel this bad when Punk dumped fake ashes of Paul Bearer onto the Undertaker. Maybe because there was an element of silliness? Punk was playing hot potato with the urn earlier before, any person with any sense knew it wasn't the ashes of Paul Bearer. Bad taste, sure, but still.
This one really made me feel bad. And not a bad like "Oh I hope Charlotte gets revenge on Paige at the PPV!" more like "wow, that's the way they decided to go? They couldn't garner heat any other way?"

This company won't succeed again until Vince is dead and the writers go away. I still can't believe they ended with a contract signing with a match no one cares about.
Ugh.

I loved most of the show with all the great matches and what not. Thought the ending was horrifically icky and bad.

I was really hoping for Sasha to do a run in and get put into the match. She's been lost in the shuffle now.

For fucks sake... Please tell me Charlotte was aware. And if she was, how could she not clue her dad in?

Wouldn't she have to have been aware if she brought him up in the first place??

Wouldn't she have to have been aware if she brought him up in the first place?? That's what I'm thinking. But why wouldn't she clue her family in to prepare them?

So neither the father or the mother knew? Wow. What a fucking cluster. So was this on a writer(s), Vince, Charlotte and Paige going into business for themselves, Paige going into business by herself, .....or what? wow. It was extremely tacky even for me and I'm about the most non PC cat you will ever be aware of.

1. Charlotte had to have known. She brought up Reid for a reason, so Paige could hit that go home line. 100% classless, 100% lazy, 100% desperate.
2. If Charlotte didn't for some reason know, that's the most fucking heartless thing I've ever heard in wrestling in all my 25 years watching. The only other two instances I remember WWE mentioning people who passed away were Paul Bearer during the Punk/Taker feud and also Eddie Guerrero in the Orton/Rey feud. Both Paul's sons & the Guerreros gave the ok before, so that's why I find it hard to believe she couldn't have known,
There's a chance Ric knew, but he's saying he didn't. But there's certainly a chance he didn't know. If so, for everything Ric Flair has given to the WWE, let alone professional wrestling, you aren't going to tell him you're going to mention his deceased son? Let's not forget that it was Ric himself who found Reid, which has to make it even more traumatic than it is already.
I'll watch Survivor Series Sunday, but i'll skip watching their match. I realize it doesn't matter, but they could put on a 5 star classic & I wouldn't give a shit.

Also I keep seeing tweets saying it was great "old school heel heat". What the fuck does that mean? I've watched wrestling since 1990 & have watched a fuck ton of wrestling from the 80s. Aside from the two examples I mentioned above, what other instances have there been where someone mentions someones dead family member negatively like that?
I don't ever remember Ric Flair doing something like that in all his promos. Sure there are times like the Dudley's nearly starting riots in ECW but they were going at it with fans. I'd love just one other example (it's late as I'm typing this, so there could actually be an obvious one out there that I can't think of).
Old school heel heat? Go fuck yourself.

Ric mentioned it on Woooo Nation today and you could tell he was pissed and disgusted by it all. But he won't say anything since he doesn't want to effect things with Charlotte. Then when Conrad asked it in a different way, he said he didn't like it.
For all this guy has given, he is treated like this. Disgusting.

It just isn't a very good piece of business. Sure people are talking about it. But do they want to see the match because of it? No. Did it make a horribly awkward, misplaced segment seem even worse? Yep. "Hey, by the way, we are going to have the you girls close the show for the first time with a contract signing. This will be the first time you are ever closing the show! But don't be nervous. By the way, on page eleven of your script, you'll see the mention about Reid being weak for dying from heroin. Go get em'!"

F4Wonline.com reports that WWE will be releasing a statement on the controversial RAW main event angle with Paige and WWE Divas Champion Charlotte soon. The statement will reportedly say that the idea came from Charlotte, and that it was taken out of the script but she insisted it be put in.

Then tell your fucking family before you do it, you fucking idiot! If anything, this makes me think less of Charlotte.
I insist on the go home line being about my brother (who died 2 years ago of a drug overdose) not being a fighter.
Still not watching their match.

Yeah if true that speaks poorly of Charlotte.
It may be a cover story though. I can't believe she wouldn't share it with her dad.
Unless this is all one big work.

Yeah a part of me at the beginning thought it was a work, because you need family approval. Regardless, anyone involved is fucked in the head. It's terrible.
Holy hell I forgot about the Show/Bossman thing. Even in 1999, the height of the Attitude Era, as a teenager, I thought that was horrible.

Someone asked Conrad if the Charlotte story is false. He said they were correct, the story about Charlotte insisting is false.

Lots of talk about this on the podcasts this week. Bauer and Pollock both had strong takes. Cort talked about other companies exploiting deaths in the past (WCCW in particular) and said it's cheap and devalues the product.
I agree. Served no purpose.

Charlotte's been on the main roster since July. The fans haven't had any chance to actually connect with her (or any Diva in this "Divas Revolution", which is the problem with having just 6 or 9 women tags each week). That's bookings problem & also Charlotte's inability to cut a good promo.
Yes, it's a TV show & these people are playing characters, but Reid Flair wasn't a character, the line was not necessary.

JUST HAD A WRITER TELL ME WE SHOULD END THE OVERRUN OF RAW TO "SHAKE THINGS UP" AS HIS SNIFFLING, WEAK FACE TOLD ME. I MANAGED TO SHOW THE WRITING TEAM HOW WE ARE KICKING OFF OUR ISES STORYLINE. AFTER SPEAKING TO NABISCO, VERIZON, AND THE DORITOS PEOPLE, WE CAN'T ACTUALLY DO A "RACIST" ANGLE. SO IT WILL BE A NEW DAY, HAHA, WHEN THE BIG SHOW JOINS BIG E, KOFI, AND THE OTHER GUY AS ISES. I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT MEANS, AND IT DOESN'T MATTER. WE WILL FIGURE THAT OUT BEFORE THE SHOW. BUT THIS IS THE WAY TO GO. #WWENETWORK
