I'm happy for Gable. His only alternative would have been the 24/7 title silliness. He has too much talent for that. Excellent match with Gallagher last night.

Chad Gable made his 205 Live debut. Hey, it's better than catering. At least there's a way to watch him wrestle now. I heard he & Crews tore it up with Rowan & Bryan at house shows this weekend. Both Gable & Crews deserve better. So many do. They really screwed up with American Alpha; that team had great potential. Crews was brought up way too fast; never given a chance to develop a personality or mic skills.

Really good main event. Good to hear the crowd into it.

Good for them.

I'm happy for them, but it's a bad look when you do all that complaining and then just re-sign with the company anyway.

I agree, but they've not been used much until recently. Complaining generates speculation about AEW, and that helps them get more money from WWE.

Mike & Maria just seem like more trouble than they're worth. That's the vibe I always get from them anyhow.

They've been doing the feud with Drake Maverick about how he's a bad GM for months now. Maybe Maria becomes the GM and Spud starts to wrestle and begins with a feud with Mike?

Also considering how little the 205 Live guys are used weekly, maybe they get a bigger paycheck for less time on the roads over other promotions? Their child is still super young so they could spend more time with her too.
Happy they're getting paid, but wish they were used more prominently. They're a solid on screen duo.

Just a heads up if you want a great wrestling match to watch, Chad Gable vs Jack Gallagher put on a fucking great match this week.
Crowd fucking sucks and wouldn't know good wrestling if it slapped them in the face, but disregard that because this show never gets a reaction due to no one in creative caring about it.
That's actually a positive from a wrestling standpoint. Vince isn't running this show so the guys are actually wrestling
One of the better WWE matches of the year, so give it a watch if you have 17 minutes

Drake vs Kanellis last week in a non sanctioned match. It will be Drake's last thing he does he says as GM, so I assume there's going to be a new GM eventually? (I still think Daniel Bryan will be involved somehow)
Raul Mendoza debuted teaming with Humberto Carillo vs the Lucha House Party
Also Shane Strickland debuted (Isaiah Scott) vs Drew Gulak in the main event.
Like how some new guys are getting in the mix. 205 Live has been really solid lately

So Drake vs Kanellis was really fun and the crowd was into it. We haven't seen Drake actually wrestle in WWE ever (minus the comedy stuff), so if you want, go out of your way to see it. I highly suggest it.
So this means Gulak still doesn't have a challenger for Summerslam since Kanellis lost to Drake. I honestly think this is where Daniel Bryan pops up and he challenges & beats Gulak for the Cruiserweight Title at Summerslam.
This would be better than Bryan randomly trying to murder (and subsequently losing) to Roman like I mentioned in the SD thread.
Bryan vs anyone on 205 Live would be awesome

Kushida debuted on tonight's show. He teamed with Jack Gallagher vs Brian Kendrick & Tozawa. He was Gallagher's mystery partner.

If they separated everyone onto RAW SD and NXT respectively, I'd be fine with it. I just don't want them all to be squash guys if/when 205 Live goes away.
Really wish more people watched the show, it's the one show Vince doesn't have his grubby little paws all over. But sadly it's completely forgotten about.
I think guys like Gulak, Nese, Kanellis, Metalik could all be good guys on the main roster, but you look at guys like Murphy or Ali (post injury) and until recently Cedric, they haven't gotten much TV time at all, which makes me think any of those other guys wouldnt either.
I think you put the Cruiserweight title on NXT. Cruiserweights are established workers, this way you don't rush people in developmental who aren't ready to TV. Not saying you have a bunch of CW feuds, but have a title feud, then another feud setting up a next challenger.

With NXT going to cable, I'd eliminate 205 Live altogether. It's handcuffing performers to a certain level and there's a TON of TV time. Instead of focusing on one brand (Raw/Smackdown) having the flippy guys, I'd put them on both shows. Who had the better "205" match this week? Raw or Smackdown? Open with it for now like Nitro. NXT can be the old school wrasslin show. For now. When people are blown away by AEW, you interject 205 guys. But you tell good stories on every show. That will fend off the competitor villain. Until the Villain show up with an umbrella on AEW TV.

Should also point out Nigel Mcguinness has been replaced on commentary by Dio Maddin (Brennen Williams, former NFL linebacker who has been signed to NXT for a while).
I assume it's because Nigel will be doing commentary for NXT live here in a few weeks and they just didn't want him on both shows.

Triple H interview with Newsweek had this about 205 Live. I'm happy with the CW title being on NXT.
So 205 Live will sit under the NXT umbrella? You'll start to see 205 begin to. I think it always existed as an island onto itself, a little bit, and it's become lost in this limbo. You'll begin to see it move more towards the NXT banner and the talent there. We have a lot of talent. For them to begin to compete either open against anyone or in the cruiserweight division, but have that title sit under the NXT brand is more meaningful. It creates more opportunities for more people. As for RAW and SmackDown, it's an open division for them. When you're on both shows, everybody is competing against everybody.

I assume it's because Nigel will be doing commentary for NXT live here in a few weeks and they just didn't want him on both shows. From Big Dave: With NXT going live, WWE has made a change to the 205 Live commentary team. On Tuesday, it was revealed that Nigel McGuinness will no longer be doing commentary for 205 Live. NXT wrestler Dio Maddin took McGuinness' place starting with this week's 205 Live episode and was announced as the newest member of the broadcast team. He'll be working alongside Vic Joseph and Aiden English. Joseph and English congratulated and thanked McGuinness. Mauro Ranallo, McGuinness, and Beth Phoenix are the commentary team for NXT. Maddin (real name Brennan Williams) is a former NFL offensive lineman. After being trained by Booker T, he signed with WWE in 2016. He's been wrestling on NXT house shows since then and got his WWE name earlier this year.

Main event last night was Dorado, Metalik & Carillo vs Gulak, Daivari & Nese.
The first 95% of the match was pretty slow, so the crowd paid more attention to a fan holding up a baby throughout the match. They were all turned to the side of the crowd and chanting "Heyyy We Want Some Baby!" "Bay-Bee Rocks" & "Baby 2 Belts"
The guys all noticed this in the ring so Gulak started rocking Metalik back & forth, Nese locked on a rest hold and sang a lullaby and when the crowd chanted "You Still Got It" to the child, Daivari took a bow and thanked the crowd.
It really was a sight to see. Daivari asked "where's Snitsky when you need him?" on Twitter post match.

WWE 205 Live is reportedly moving to Friday nights, according to PWInsider.
Word going around at tonight's SmackDown from the Chase Center in San Francisco is that 205 Live will be moving to Friday nights at 10pm ET on the WWE Network. The change is set to begin as of next week, October 4. This is the same night that SmackDown premieres on FOX, live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
The current plan is to tape 205 Live after SmackDown goes off the air on Friday nights.
Stay tuned as WWE should be making an official announcement on the future of the cruiserweights show soon.

Should have just moved the cruiserweight title to NXT.

I don't like this move at all. As Drebin said, this is the perfect opportunity to blend it with NXT.

It's also weird because they just crowned a new #1 contender for the CW title...on NXT last week. This is just weird.
Although they'll still be having killer matches and more likely than not a lot of them would've been buried or never got to wrestle had the entire roster combined with NXT.
Granted I know no one watches 205 Live except for a few of us, but at least they get to continue their 1 hour show instead of 1 segment per week.

A new episode of 205 Live won't be airing on the WWE Network tonight after all.
Post Wrestling's John Pollock reported that a call was made to air a repeat episode of 205 Live tonight: "I’ve been told by multiple people that a call was made to air a repeat of 205 Live tonight instead of taping a new show after Smackdown in Los Angeles. They had previously announced two matches for 205 Live and it was described to me as a 'late call'."
WWE had announced that 205 Live would be moving to airing live on the WWE Network at 10 p.m. Eastern time on Fridays starting this week. Earlier today, Tony Nese vs. Humberto Carrillo and Akira Tozawa vs. Brian Kendrick had been announced for the episode that was supposed to take place tonight.
WWE.com has removed the preview for this week's 205 Live and the announcements of Nese vs. Carrillo and Tozawa vs. Kendrick. The WWE Network schedule also no longer lists a new 205 Live episode for tonight.

Just incorporate them into NXT already.
