I saw Hulk Hogan continues to show up for big events despite all the racist bullshit that he has said. I wish Tony Khan had the balls WWE had to do whatever they want and if the network had a problem with it, fuck em. Instead he's letting Warner/Discovery program his show. I can't believe I'm in a place to defend working with the man. I'll go one step further. It's very irresponsible for Tony to push this issue. He's responsible for the livelihood of hundreds of people in an industry that doesn't have many paying jobs. Do you think these scummy media types are going to salute him for taking a stand? Especially when he's not that guy? "Hey Tony, good job telling off Discovery over the gay comment issue! Come get a bigger deal over here!" No. He'll be a wrestling guy with dad's money that doesn't play the game. You have to play the game until you have a strong hand in this situation. Vince didn't tell people to fuck off in the early going. He schemed his way through it. He can do it now because he's Vince McMahon, and it's also who he is. Are the reasons petty, stupid, and shouldn't matter. Yes. Life isn't fair. Now go get that next TV deal and tell Discovery to fuck off afterwards. |

Know your worth.
If you value your company so little that you are going to let random TV executives basically program your show, and in the reported case of the Briscoes basically tell you who you can and can't hire, then you deserve it.
I'll say it until I'm blue in the face. AEW is not powerless here. They have a highly rated show who's rights fees (even if they increase 20%) are still less than those of the NBA and NHL. Nothing WBD puts on in its place draws anywhere near their ratings. Go to bat for yourself and your show.

I understand your point, but if they’re limited at what they were allowed to do, that’s on WBD. Has AEW had enough of a track record to pull the fuck you card yet? Also isn’t TV contracts coming up soon? Maybe Tony’s hands were tied? I don’t know if he has the power to say “we’re doing this, deal with it” after it happens.
On Observer Radio this morning, Bryan asked Dave if WBD would allow Mark Briscoe to be part of AEW now and Dave took a breath and said he knows the answer and it’s no, which is all he could say. Bryan was baffled and so was Dave, they were disappointed in WBD. And they’re right, it’s fucking bullshit.
It’d be one thing if Jay never showed regret, remorse or anything about his tweet that was 10 years ago. It’s be one thing if he didn’t try to change and understand why it was so wrong and in turn became more knowledgeable of the whole LGBTQ+ community. Listen to the interview Ian Riccaboni gave about how much Jay tried to learn from his mistake. Sometimes nothing is ever good enough for cancel culture
But by all means, let’s keep promoting Power Slap with the guy who slapped around his wife a week before your show started. And continue to have him all over the show, also refusing to be punished for his actions.

If AEW can't hire who it wants and utilize who it wants on its TV show without fear, then they are in way worse shape than anyone imagines.
At some point you have to stand up for what you want.
Maybe Jay Briscoe isn't that point. Maybe Mark Briscoe isn't that point.

Wtf I think they just need something for Becky to do ultimately. Throw her in with 2 HOFers and go against Bayley’s crew. 3 on 3 stip match presumably at Mania. I assume Lita & Becks drop the titles relatively soon. Or they forget about the titles like they usually do and they end up having a Demolition length run. I think Becky deserves more of a Mania spotlight, but if she’s not in the title picture, I guess this is fine. |
