It's pretty simple.
An AR-15 didn't spontaneously shoot Trump, nor does it spontaneously shoot schools. People do that. Nobody is supporting a shooter (well, most people I guess). They're supporting a tool protected by the Bill of Rights.
They do look stupid with the ear bandage, though. It's the 2024 version of the 2016 pussy-hat.

Kamala is the obvious choice as successor, and Joe strongly endorsed her, but she's never won anything outside of California and she's incredibly unpopular nationwide.
I don't know if there's any other choice you could pivot to.
Gavin Newsome? I don't know that he's any more popular than Kamala.
JB? He has less of a national presence which could be good. But I think it might be early for him.
Pete Buttegeig? Pass.
Democrats need to find a young gun from Texas or Florida. Someone who isn't part of The Squad.

I probably find Newsom even more unlikable than Harris, but I think he has a better chance at winning which is all I care about at this point. Defeat the orange menace and monitor everything America's evil stepdad does for the next four years.
