I commented last night just based on highlights I saw. I watched the match this morning. I stand by my opinion.
Ospreay and MJF was great because they built up the story and there was emotion involved.
Ospreay and PAC was fine because there really wasn't any stakes involved. It was just a match.
Ospreay and Ricochet was fine for the same reason as the PAC match. It was just guys doing moves.
The match last night was in between the the MJF and PAC/Ricochet matches. There was a story buildup (a little at least) and they did the same cool shit Ospreay always does.
So of those 4 "Match of the Year" contenders, I'd rank them:
1. MJF
gap
2. Takeshita/Ricochet
big gap
3. Riochet
Britney Spears gap
4. PAC

I have to call BS on the Ospreay recaps. It's the same thing every time. "Oh they did outstanding moves. Match of the Year." Every match the guy has can't be amazing. I have to say I saw some of his spots on twitter and from what I saw his stuff looked crisp and believable. I was actually impressed it didn’t look choreographed. Again twitter, but I’ll give credit where it’s due. |

Moxley as world champ has made me even less motivated to want to watch AEW weekly. Why does this company hate me so much? Our first date was great.

But watching the match, they went from one spot to the next to the next with next to no pause. Moves for the sake of moves don't do anything for me. I'll see them and say oh that's cool. And then forget all about it. |

Anna should’ve been the one to do it in all fairness, but it did seem like Harley took all of that finisher flush right but that seems like an easy tell to the not out of it talent. Weird way to go about finishing that. Or just make the count without the shoulders on the mat. It’s close enough and no one in the crowd would notice. Only people posting on twitter which is what we have now anyway. I’ve never seen that before. |

Guessing ref a bit green. He should have "checked the shoulder was down" by sliding his hand under it and then say something to Anna Jay so she pushes it down.
