There very few women I'd consider leaving my wife for. Shida is one of them.

Punk's pipe bomb was 9 years ago. Holy shit. Crazy thing is, Punk's promo was made possible by the fact that WWE was the drizzling shits at the time. 9 years later and it's actually worse in some ways.

Bash at the Beach '96 was 24 years ago today.
I was looking forward to who the 3rd man would be for so long. Names from HBK to Bret Hart to Mabel. Everyone had a thought. I was in Ireland on vacation and ended up calling my brother at 4am to find out who the 3rd man was.

The big wrestling boom hadn't hit yet for my friends, so I didn't have people talking at school, so I had to find out what happened on Nitro. I was shocked, but even at 9 years old, happy. Even as a young kid I thought Hogan was silly in WCW. So him being a bad guy had my attention.

I was on pins and needles all week leading up to that Sunday. I watched it on scramblevision (like all PPVs during that era), but for me that added to the fun of it in a weird way. I was also on pins and needles the next day waiting for Nitro to start. My God, that is a feeling I wish I could still have for wrestling.

Today is also the 30th anniversary of Great American Bash '90. Sting beat Flair for his first World Title. 1990 couldn't have been better for me, as my two favorite wrestlers Warrior and Sting were on top as champions.

Everyone forgets the rest of that Bash at the Beach card...
DDP vs Duggan - 5 minute Taped Fist Match
Tenta vs Bubba - Silver Dollar Match (winner grabbed a sock full of quarters on a pole, but both were too big to climb, so Jimmy Hart had to scurry up the pole)
Mongo vs Joe Gomez
Nastys vs Public Enemy - Dog Collar Match, which in theory seems like train wreck gold, but they kept getting tangled & it was a clusterfuck
Disco vs Malenko, Psychosis & Rey and Horsemen vs Dungeon were all solid though.
Thank goodness the biggest heel turn in history saved this show.

Yeah, that Disco/Malenko match was way better than it had any right to be.
Mongo vs. Joe Gomez...hard to tell who was the greener of the two. Both sucked and neither ever improved.

The fact that Joe Gomez technically stuck around longer in WCW than Mongo was a miracle. Mongo was a better wrestler than Gomez.
I know I should never start a sentence with "Mongo was a better wrestler than..."

I've said it before, but like Kid, the Spring/Summer of 1990 could not have gone better for a young Drop In. That was the peak of my fandom.
I'm with randomone on Bash at the Beach. That was the low of my fandom. I was paying attention to things like Hall and Nash jumping, but I was barely watching. I came home in the middle of Nitro and they were talking about Hogan turning. "Wait, what?"

Good lord how is he able to even function after those two spots. Was he that green? because those seem to be his choices in how to take those bumps. Unless he really thought Perfect was going to catch him, if so then Curt's a major asshole. But that Pedigree bump is all him. Yikes.
