So I've been watching all the WWE PPVs in order since I got the network, I'm up to the middle of 2000, and I've started to realize that I totally get why Vince fires JR constantly, he's garbage juice as an announcer.
... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...
I know it's not a popular stance, but go back and watch some of this and see how often he uses words that aren't words, calls a move incorrectly (JR is to the Tope what Michael Cole is to the powerslam) calls entire matches while referring to the people in them as completely different workers, or yells so loud his dumb drawl blows out the mic... it's brutal...

His WWF/E style has always been more loud and boisterous. I imagine that directive came straight from Vince. He may not have been the most sound announcer in WWE, but he lent an air of importance to the match that Cole and others just can't do.
Listen to JR in WCW. He was very good.

The newest Countdown is Best Celebrity Involvement.
#1 is Mike Tyson
No argument.

Yeah I've had limited exposure to WCW JR so I'll give it a try.
And as far as celebs go, Tyson makes sense, Pete Rose should have been a lot higher. And sentimentality wants Barker moved up as well.

Jericho still wanting to fight Barker was my favorite part of the countdown.
Also I watched the Vickie Countdown. If you want to hear a bad music tribute, watch the last few minutes. The video isn't bad, it's the song, it's cringeworthy. Makes you really appreciate the Tell Me a Lie days in the mid 90s.

I had quite the network marathon today, and it will probably continue when I'm up all night tonight. I haven't gone this long without being able to consume water or food without turning it into a Vince skit.

THE ONLY REASON PUNK AGREED TO COME BACK WAS IF AJ WAS CHAMPION AND COULD TRAVEL WITH HIM. NOW SHE'S CHAMP. WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU NOW SMART GUY?

I think the only reason why the WWE Network isn't working is that it's only been around for a few months. I believe it needs time to push its platform. Time to work out the kinks, time to tap into just 10% of that passionate fan base.
With time, I think the WWE Network will be a major success. There are too many fans, there is too much content, and the value is just too good for it to fail. Ultimately, Vince McMahon may be thought of as a pioneer. If successful, the WWE may be the first of many companies that create a network so that customers can buy what they want, when they want.Read the full article here: www.fool.com/investing/general/2014/07/05/why-isnt-the-wwe-network-working.aspx

Random WWE Network watching...
They had on 2000 WCW Great American Bash on today. This led me to watch Bash at the Beach which was when the whole Russo-Hogan thing went down. This is a train wreck era of WCW, but it was interesting to watch knowing what we know now. I think Russo was dead-on with putting the belt on Booker. He actually booked the title matches fairly well after this from what I can remember. I know everyone shits on JJ, but he was over as a heel with the WCW fans. I think Steiner's push was warranted as well during this time period. The unfortunate part was other than Lance Storm's run, everything else Russo booked was basically trash. And his over-the-top 4th wall stuff was just too much. It never allowed me to get lost in the wrestling or story. Constantly wrestlers and announcers referred to backstage politics. It was actually in everyone's language to say during interviews or broadcast that "I will go over you tonight" or "Nash is looking to go over Steiner tonight." It just became too much. The next PPV after the Hogan/Russo shoot rant, Russo tries to do it again with Goldberg walking out of a jackknife powerbomb and leaving mid-match. It just killed me giving a shit about anything I was watching. I think Russo actually made the right decisions on who the players should be at the company. Unfortunately all the creative was so incredibly bad.

I didn't like how they had Booker lose to Kanyon earlier in the night & Book comes out and beats Jarrett for the title. I also didn't like the constant World title changes each week the months leading up to this show. I actually watched a bunch of Nitro/Thunders someone posted on YouTube a few months back in a row & calling it a clusterfuck is an understatement. I know people get pissy about the Arquette thing still, but putting that aside, the title changed hands every week for about a month.
Not to mention the constant heel turns, just binge watching the eps, it was hard to keep up. It was way too much. Absolutely agree that Storm was really the only good part for a while. Until they added a HEEL Hacksaw Jim Duggan to join him. And Storm didn't have shit for feuds though. Mike Awesome (Fat Chick thriller/70s Guy), The Cat (who I hated in the ring) & Hugh Morrus (who was fine, but they did the dumb General Hugh G. Rection garbage)
Bright spots were incredibly rare to find in WCW in 2000. Norman Smiley Hardcore title run & Stacy Keibler's legs were my favorites. And dancing Tank Abbott (screw you all, I thought that was funny)

First.) Undisputed champion of the world. I'm very excited

Re-watching the Y2J WrestleMania Rewind (Shocker)
Now, as an orioles fan, I love Gary Thorne and his peanut butter mixed with velvet voice (Fuck you Joe Buck) but as a wrestling fan, I've gotta say I really wish that they would get someone else to do the voice work. Gary doesn't seem to even be a fan, I'm fairly positive he just called Snuka "Jimmy Superfly Sundee"

The next wave of Network subscribers comes out next week.
This could be bad. Like real bad.
If the numbers aren't at at least 900K, Vince might be looking at another $100+M in losses.
FWIW I think the number will be about 925K. Whether that's real or not I don't know.

They've done (or somebody has), a great job at eliminating sites like Nutjob, WHSports etc..... Enough in fact, that I'm now a subscriber. The one thing that I don't know how they combat, is that all anybody needs is a Network valid email to sign in. Score Jr tells me that various people just use the same email. I don't know all the details or validity to that, but I wonder how they can overcome that kind of problem.

It can't be that difficult, Netflix accounts only work on 2 devices at a time, but the Network seems to have no limit on how many devices can be signed in at once. That's a problem they definitely need to fix.

A couple of notes from my Network viewings...
I never watched RAW when it first started. It was right around the time I was not interested in WWF and barely interested in wrestling at all. I had switched to WCW for occassional watching. I've now seen the first 60 episodes. Obviously I didn't miss much. There was a lot of bad during this period as we all know. I'd like to touch upon some things that I did enjoy about the first 60. These are in no ranking order.
1. Johnny Polo: Almost every time he was on air he was entertaining. I'm not for sure what the wrestling historians thought of Raven's former alter ego, but I found him to be a classic heel with great heat. I loved his character. To me, he did everything you are supposed to do as a heel manager. I never really knew much about the Quebecers, but looking back now that whole ensemble was a bright spot for RAW IMO.
2. Vince McMahon and Randy Savage: OK, now this one is what I consider "Good-Bad." They both are actually a total disaster calling RAW, but I love their cold opens and closes to the show. Vince seemed to be genuinely happy in this era. You read about how he and Randy were actually pretty close at one time. At least on camera, it definitely comes off this way. They seem to be having a blast and entertaining each other at times. They have some moments on the show that crack me up.
3. Razor Ramon: If you had to name the wrestler that carried RAW week after week over the first 60 episodes, it was clearly Razor Ramon. Seems like he was on TV every week, usually in the best match of the show (which I know isn't saying much), and he just oozed charisma. I have a new found respect for him in his place in WWF history. I get inducting "Razor Ramon" even more now than I did before.

Robbins Arroyo LLP, a California based law firm, announced Friday it filed a class action lawsuit against WWE in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut.
The law firm says it is representing "all persons who purchased WWE securities between October 31, 2013 and May 16, 2014." The suit is against WWE and "certain officers and directors" who the firm alleges violated SEC Rules.
The complaint is based on alleged "false and misleading statements concerning the company's ability to double the value of Its U.S. Television License Agreement."
Robbins Arroyo cited WWE making several statements "regarding the ability of the Company to transform its earning profile through, among other things, the negotiation of a lucrative long-term television deal."
However, WWE's renewal with NBC Universal came in below expectations, prompting a sell-off of WWE stock in mid-May. Robbins alleges that WWE misled investors on the potential monetary value of WWE's TV renewal by omitting key factors of advertising rates and the effect of the WWE Network launch.
"These statements downplayed the fact that advertisers pay less to reach WWE viewers than traditional sports or other shows on the USA Network and the negative impact on the television license negotiations resulting from the Company's launch of its WWE Network," Robbins wrote.
The press release continues that shareholders have 60 days from July 25 to "serve as lead plaintiff" in the lawsuit against WWE if they choose to. Robbins aims to "seek relief on behalf of the named plaintiffs and all other similarly situated shareholders of WWE" during the period of Oct. 31, 2013 to May 16.
Robbins Arroyo LLP’s mission statement, as published on their website, is to "hold corporations and their fiduciaries accountable when their misconduct harms shareholders, employees, or consumers. Dedicated to plaintiff representation in complex litigation, our law firm’s practice areas include securities fraud, corporate mergers and acquisitions, shareholder derivative, antitrust, ERISA, whistleblower, consumer, and employment litigation."
