Mainly to make up for some internet dumbass associating them with the #10 car and all the failure associated with it.
Chuck and Wickett had some NHL to Milwaukee talk that I missed and I am pissed about this. It would work but you would have to give it time. They wouldn't have a flashy first few years and then no interest. It would be a steadily growing and deep rooted fan base. If there were no nba team or nhl team in the city and you had to pick one to start can you honestly tell me that the nba plays in this state over hockey? I think it plays in the city and and hockey would play everywhere.

But, there is something with the Blackhawks, that if a NHL team ever came to Milwaukee, that they would have to be paid a substantial sum of money. It is like they have the rights to here.

I think that whole deal was put together by the old asshole owner. A marketing machine like Mcdonough and the open mindedness Rocky Wirtz has shown makes me think something can be worked out. The Hawks have a completely revitalized fan base. You will not hurt that fan base. You can't even go to a game at the UC because its sold out and so damn expensive. The hawks are not on tv in milwaukee or even much of southern WI i believe.
Think of it like the Cubs and Brewers. These 2 only help each other out.
The biggest roadblock is going to be getting the hawks and wild fans that are only fans by default on board. It worked with the Wild though. That had to be extremely hard to move a popular team away and then start an entire new one while that team still existed. It wasn't like the Browns who snatched their old name back to make it seem like nothing happened.

There is a lot beating of the drums for a NHL team, but they are not going to expand and it is my belief they would rather get rid of a couple of teams instead of having them move.

I think they would have to take a failing franchise like Florida.

But I am not sure the execs at the NHL want those teams moved, I think they seem some of watered down product and realize they would be better off with a few less teams.

I would rather hear the Unit discuss Bieber going full hard ass gangster with his neck tatt...than hear this discussion about how the team with the best record in the Eastern Conference is a shit show in the locker room.

The Unit was getting heated about people bringing up an NHL team. The people want a damn Hockey team. Get on the bus.......not the exotic express.

I know the Hawks have a no compete radius....and Milwaukee is in it. They have to waive it for this to happen.

It sounds like the same situation occurred when the ducks entered the league. They paid 25 mil to the LA Kings and that was that. They didn't pay a percentage each year. That 25 mil also came out of the 50 they were already paying to the league as an entrance fee so they had to pay it regardless....half just went to a team instead of the league. That is like paying half of andrew bynums contract for a team.

The home territory rules of Article 4 and the single team veto do exist for awarding an expansion franchise - so any expansion franchise cannot be placed within 50 miles of the corporate limit of an existing NHL city without the written consent of that Club and presumably a significant territorial indemnity fee and/or other agreement.
And unlike a relocation fee which has some basis in previous case law - the difference in franchise value from the old location to the new - there are no guidelines for indemnification fees w.r.t. expansion and a team may make any demands it chooses in order to consent to infringement of it's territory.

There is something sketchy with the Admirals owner pushing for a team back in the early 90's and then totally backing off. I feel like David Stern might have lined his pockets or something.

I was reading up on this on some old hockey sites. None of this is written as law but from what I gather......Wirtz actually bought the territorial rights to Milwaukee when the Hawks minor league team was the Admirals. He then basically ate those writes so no one could ever put a team there. A huge shithead move by a huge shithead. I think if they really wanted to do it they can get those rights back from the sane son of that asshat. This is the same guy that took his own damn team off tv.
