That was awesome. I am sure there will be parts to nitpick - but that was the movie we all hoped for with Episode I.

I saw it. Was what I expected. When we have reached a point where most have seen it, maybe you guys can say what made it awesome for you?

I saw it. Was what I expected. When we have reached a point where most have seen it, maybe you guys can say what made it awesome for you? Speaking from a purely fan perspective, having grown up on the movies and the franchise I felt I was a big part of that universe. A significant part of my childhood (and now adulthood) has been spent enjoying the space saga that George Lucas created. And I loved it - had a bigger positive impact on me than Roman Catholicism, but that is another post. So when the prequels came out when I was in my mid-twenties I was excited to get to relive my childhood through my favorite movies. Then I saw the Phantom Menace and holy shit I couldn't believe that was even part of the same universe. It was bad. No, it was awful. Then Episode II came and it was better, not great but better. Then Episode III finished up the arc and ok I don't completely disown my childhood, I'll let it stand. Now 15 years later Disney buys out Lucas and we get a new trilogy announced - holy shit super spazz excitement!!!! Oh wait, please please please please please don't be like the prequels. Now we have 18 months of excited trepidation. Finally, two weeks ago I go see this movie by myself and I was instantly transported back to being a kid and experiencing it for the first time all over again. It was new, but familiar. Another story, but nods and homages to the originals. It was Star Wars. And I felt vindicated after all these years of being such a fan that they could do another movie and it could be awesome. And then I took my family to see it. And to have all of them love it told me it wasn't just super fans that enjoyed it, but everyone could approach it and have fun while watching it. And it had a great strong female lead that my girls could pretend to be and I wouldn't have to explain that not every girl needs to be a princess or need rescuing, etc... As a standalone movie it was terrific. And it left enough breadcrumbs to speculate and want you to want more. As a super fan I loved that. I haven't been this excited to be a Star Wars fan since I was 9. And now that all nerd things are cool, I'm loving it even more! I don't have to hide that fact that I am 40 and I love Star Wars. *can we get a stormtrooper helmet emoticon? or Vader?

What he said.
Plus for me it was cool seeing my son enjoying it as well.

I can't believe I'm just watching this again. Hooked like a nine-year-old.

Han Solo: I used to be.
The smuggler? The General? Wasn't he a war hero?
Chewie: "I don't know"
