This was nearly the same amount of time for a buildup as the unification deal today. Yet "experts" hitch about it now.

It's weird seeing Lord Alfred Hayes in that announcing role. Wasn't he a bad guy manager in the AWA with the Super Destroyers or was that Skandar Akbar?

This was said a couple times last night and I will actually stand by past being better overall still. The difference, more times than not, is that the top characters (for me) were so much better back then. And, I think it was a golden age of promos where you had about 8 guys that could do a pretty damn good job of it. I won't argue overall wrestling from top to bottom of a card, but the Federation's top 8 guys back then compared to now? Come on. |
