In his own words on 540 today, said they will not allow anybody to be there long term. The last coach was there 11 years. |

I looked the AD up when he called her a deplorable human being. She doesn't strike me as that. A couple antennas went up about this whole deal, but not enough to focus on it. I'm interested since you have access to some of the stories.

There are things she hasn't handled exactly the right way, no doubt. But this whole thing has been crazy. Braun's first press conference was interrupted by a congresswoman posing as part of the media. She wasted the whole press conference accusing Braun if racism.

I don't care about UWM athletics. They have an alright baseball team that I have never followed and are an irrelevant mid major aside from that IMO. I would rather follow Whitewater. The only thing that perks my interest about it is that its another example of the racially motivated "throw a fit until I get my way" strongarming that has erupted the last few years.
Lets look at this from the AD's pov. She is new, the biggest program is MBB, they were due for a change, she was not allowed to make the most important hire her job allows her to make because of the politician throwing a hissy fit over the firing being racially motivated. That is some bullshit. If the new guy were her first choice then cool...but its been made known that it wasn't.

I am gathering that they had a pretty status quo environment there until 2 things happened.
1. They were horrendous across the board acaemically
2. The gov cut school funding
She was the new boss that had to deal with both issues. The bball coach was not good enough to leave for bigger things like the 2 before him. He was ok but apparently everyone liked him. When you fire everyone's friend you are going to piss people off. The politician's angle to this has really blown it up. The Iowa State cat and alum that they wanted to hire would be off and running as coach and everything would have cooled down. The politician's racist hissy fit and strong arming has this all inflamed again with no end it sight.

I have the major golf writers pissed off at me, oh well. What did you do? Gary Van Sickle is a great golf writer and his son a very good player that graduated from Marquette. He just finished as the first alternate at his U.S. Open Sectional qualifying and because Tiger pulled out thought he would be in. The USGA has a way they choose who of the alternates gets in but hasn't published it I guess. He has gone on a shit fit about his son not getting in, but I have never heard him bitch about this in years past. Damn that was a lot to type on my phone. |
