Can we take stock of what's happened with Cesaro? He was hugely over as a face, with a natural tag breakup angle. He has one of the most over in-ring moves in recent history with the swing. He wins the Andre the Giant Battle Royal by eliminating Big Show. Oh, and make him a heel with Heyman. Shocking it didn't work. At least he wasnt selling Sonic chilli dogs. |

While it serves a purpose of being somewhat open ended, when it comes down to it, I can't really think of a more miserable ending than that, at least from Jack's perspective.
Which, for that show, is entirely apropos I guess.

Also all I can man sense of is Cesaro losing has to do with Heyman leaving him for a "winner" in Lesnar. But where the fuck will that put Cesaro? He has literally nothing to do except job to the guys Rusev made look so easy to beat.

At the risk of an oblique spoiler, while I personally think they should leave the near-perfection of this season alone and just leave it as they did, I could see wherein they might (for example) make a movie about Kate saving Jack, and maybe on the Hollywood Big Screen give them a Hollywood ending. But on top of it all, what William Devane said was as depressing and crushing as anything ever on that show, and that's covering a LOT of ground. Maybe because what he said was completely true in the real world. Helluva juxtaposition of that show, that ending, and that dialogue. Jack probably should've taken a little longer to consider his decision back on the boat. |
