14 years ago, Drake was born to Adam & Jennifer LaRoche.

Uncle Billy was also influential in Drake's early years as Adam was often away doing his baseball thing.

The early years were somewhat lean for the LaRoche's. Adam hadn't yet fooled anybody into giving him an absurd contract so Drake was forced to kinda live in a watermelon. It served as highchair, teething apparatus, car seat and a rocker when Uncle Billy would push it back and forth.

During the Fall it was a pumpkin. Drake seemed to love it.

Eventually Drake was allowed to fend for himself. One of his earliest signs of leadership came when he started making lunch for his sister.

Sometimes Drake's home schooling didn't exactly achieve the intended results.

Especially in the really early years.

But the times that Drake and Adam spent together seem to be what shaped the young man the most.

They did everything together.

They forbid Drake to ever hang out with Grandpa Pauly.

But it seemed like Adam had a plan all along. He knew that one day him and Drake would hang out 120 of 162 days together at the ballpark so he got Drake going early on things he could help with around the park. Like watering the infield for instance.

As well as finely manicuring the infield.

Oh sure, they tried to introduce young Drake to other sports, like football.

And soccer.

Then they tried football again.

Basketball with grandma was always a treat.

And of course his mom wanted to get him into Nascar.

Not THAT Drake.

Once in awhile Adam would tell Drake to invite his friends over and then Adam and the neighbor would entertain them for the afternoon.

But at the end of the day, nothing was quite like hanging out and playing baseball with dad.

Much like his dad however, Drake's defense left a lot to be desired.

Then one day Drake inexplicably won the state weightlifting tournament for privileged sons of major league baseball players.

It was at that point that Adam knew the kid was ready and he gave him the call up to the big leagues.

Little did Pappa Bear Adam and young Drake know but at this very time a twenty-something Kenneth Williams was developing into the man we would all come to know and love.
