Tomorrow, I'm heading on a journey to honor my fraternity brother. But hopefully let his family know the reach that existed. I'd probably do it if it was a car accident. I'd probably do it if he had a reaction on vacation in Mexico. But this is something different. This kid fought through months, and months, and months of treatment for Leukemia.
It's easy to dislike Facebook. It could allow negativity, like any internet source. But I was able to watch him beat every bit of the cancer eating him away. All the chemo. Everything he, and his amazingly supportive family endured. He ended up being cancer-free. He was still cancer-free at the time of his passing.
Before he was deemed cancer-free, he decided to get his masters. Not Chris you wrestling maniacs. He went from teacher to principal as soon as he was well. Yep, he got his masters while sick with cancer. He also got a job as a principal when he was well. He received a stem cell transplant that didn't completely take. At least he had the option. Good thing GDub wasn't still around. His unnamed insurance company didn't allow another, which would have saved his life.
I'm not going to get into the insurance company end right now. It will only make me upset, and say things like "Motherless Fucks" and...... The highlight was one of my female friends getting an auto correct, catching a clock suckers. We needed that.
Along with needing to vent, please take the third paragraph into context. He got his Masters and became a Principal with a very uncertain future. Any of us can do anything. It's completely up to you. He's being buried in camo. Refused to have anyone wear a tie to his wake or funeral. This wasn't a "mind above matter" jock. Anyone, can do anything. Oh, and clearly had an impact on one, or potentially millions of people.
