Did you vote yet Speeps? Dennis? Coast? You Don't Know What You Got 'Til It's Gone and if you don't vote for Cinderella by texting: LIVE Cinderella to 32961, then I'm gonna have to play something crappy next week. Nope, what am I supposed to vote on? I don't know anything about music.

$250 Pittsburgh-1/Green Bay -1.5 Pinny Chus, I didn't understand the action on this bet. Is it a parlay? And regardless, what is the payout (i.e. -105)? I am still trying to understand all the dynamics of this betting pool.

KS, you're like a 2-2 NFL team one fourth the way through the season. Time to bring your A game.
Edit: I meant this for the Beat the Book thread....I got lost after signing in.

I've been too busy watching the Pack have HOF qb's for the last 22 years. I bet Lynch and Seeman would look like shit on the Bears though. I just couldn't believe some NW grad plays well, then gets hurt, and of course, they have another guy ready to go. Any chance the Bears could just find one decent QB? And yes, those guys probably would suck if they played for the Bears.

Anyone watch Denver and just wonder how they are blessed with great quarterbacks for pretty much our entire lifetime? Now it looks like they have a few decent options to replace Manning. And the Bears have yet to have even one great guy in their entire history.

Hmm, my folks have always done that in person. Typically, they come to your office with that all too familiar look on their face.
It is great though when you don't want or need the individual anymore. We had that happen back in July. The guy was about to go on probation for being terrible. Saved us time.

One year in Vegas, my buddies were betting all the usual heavy favorites for the NFL- Patriots, Steelers, Packers, etc, etc. I told them I was going to bet every underdog just to show that sports book gambling is just a toss up, and too many people ride the favorites anyway. I played every noon game, I think there was 11 that year. I went 5-6 with blindly betting all underdogs. It was amazing some of the games I won where there is no way a sane person would have picked the underdog.
Some guys are pretty good at this, but it really is a crap shoot.

Hash House for breakfast. The best, Jerry. The best. I've tried the one in the city too, Clark St I think . It is damn solid.

A few casino notes:
Fun casino- Planet Hollywood followed by Rio, Best design- Aria followed by Mirage (I like Mirage because it is easy to get back to the strip), Best pool- Flamingo, if you like to have fun with a crazy crowd. For upscale, Wynn is sweet. Best sports book- Yes I like Bellagio, but the flaws noted by Coast are true on football Sundays. Best poker room- Used to be Mirage for low stakes games but the redesign sucks. Obviously Bellagio is where the big dollar players go. Best food- I am really digging Linq solely because of Hash House for breakfast and Guy Fieri's for anything else. Venetian has a lot of nice places. Best buffet- I used to love Bellagio, but I am partial to Planet Hollywood's now. I am bearish on buffets at this point in my life (i.e. no longer a big eater). Best place to take your lady- Wynn has awesome rooms and is quiet. Aria is great as well. Best dive- Hooters is really fun bad. Excalibur's poker room is full of the easiest money on the planet.
As I get older, I tend to do more sports book, passive gambling and drinking. Our summer trip is largely spent in the pool, while our fall trip revolves around football gambling. I am not the table player I used to be. No more 18 hour sessions for me.

The only part of Aria I dislike is the Sports Book. I prefer the projection style sports books vs. the 360 tv's all over style.
I honestly didn't know you could cash Mirage tickets all over the place.
Bellagio has always been one of my favorites, although I am done with the buffet, and there is a lot of extra sight seeing traffic in the casino. They are one of the few places that have Pai Gow Tiles (not pai gow poker). That is my favorite game.....

Miami Dolphins +7.5 -105 Pinnacle $50 As I sat down to watch that game last night, I liked that +7.5 line a lot. I liked it even more after that long TD. But the Dolphins just sucked every moment after that. Tanney is read to be Jay Cutler 2.0. He just finds ways to turnover the ball.

No doubt, you are spot on. We try to get to Bellagio early for that reason. I merely meant it's the nicest and best place to watch, but of course that assumes you get a seat. Worse yet, they started charging for their drinks a few years back and are using silly high prices. I still can't believe they used to give away drinks for free. Yes, beers are $10, but "free" if you are betting. When you go to the window and place a bet, ask for drink tickets. Typically, you get one ticket for a $200 bet or so. No hard and fast rule. If you have a few guys, have one guy go up and place all the bets at the same time. That way you can maximize how many drink tickets you might get. .
Here's the way I play it- I go to that CVS or Walgreens with the Beer Cave (attached to the Venetian). I buy a bunch of tall boy beers, usually Dos Equias. I put them in a plastic bag with ice and bring them to the Bellagio. No one seems to mind if you bring your own beer. They cost about $2 a pop for a large beer. But yeah, I get drink tickets. I only bet at the hotel where I am staying, which is the Mirage. That way I can cash out winners any time I want.

Tom Dart always talks about the size of the problem with "criminals" who have mental health issues. The criminal justice system is not designed to handle these individuals, and it sounds like that guy had a lot of mental health issues. It leads to misunderstandings between law enforcement and the civilian.

Ours is a 12 team league. There are zero running backs available who have been getting more than 2-5 carries a game. And we have only played 3 weeks. It is what it is. We cut back from 12 many years ago...injuries and split carries have made the RB situation difficult to manage.

I am slightly interested, but my generally sports betting rule is this- keep it in Vegas to make sure it stays fun. I always liked following Chus' picks and seeing his opinions. You guys have a good thing going with this little contest.
The thing I want to avoid is staying up late on Sunday night because I am trying to cover a football game. Some guys at work had a contest where we did this with real money, and I was betting hockey lines and NBA games and watching way too much tv. You put $5 on a game and you spend three hours glued to your tv hoping some guy hits a free throw in a blow out win to pop your 192 over.

I think you missed my jags bet Coast I may be completely wrong here, but I was trying to do the math on your bets. I have you as losing about $1,023, not $1,100. I think the mistake is on the +108 bet that you lost. That bet should have cost you about $463, not $540 (i.e. a -108). That changes the math by $77. Edit: Maybe the +108 was a mistake. It seems weird to have a positive line against the spread...I was just trying to figure out how your rules work. Edit 2: I just checked out that site, and there actually are some + bets even against the spread almost like small teasers. You give up the hook and you get paid for it. Interesting. I am going to Vegas the weekend before Thanksgiving. I am going to pick one of you guys as my betting star and match your bets for the weekend. Saves me having to do any work and then I have a built in excuse when I lose.

KS, it is a bad idea, but it was used in NYC for some time. The new mayor shut it down because by extension, it tends to lead to racial profiling of young men. Many folks claim it helped lower the crime rate, and it probably did. I mean, if the cops search people as they walk around, you probably snag a bunch of guns and/or deter people from even trying to commit crimes. But that's not the point. It is clearly against due process, unreasonable search and seizure, and a whole host of other civilian protections.
But the country is moving ever deeper into a surveillance state. It is a near linear movement as people are scared of all sorts of low probability attacks on their family.
