Word among pro gamblers is Notre Dame will be suspending 4 starters, and maybe more. Line vs. Rice has dropped to -21. If you want to act on this rumor for a small taste, I probably woukd not take less than 21 (key number).

I remember watching a cocky as hell Davaris Daniels and his counterpart wr (at cheater The OSU now) play high school ball against my high school. My farmboys won and it was glorious.

Coast, with the new rules this year regarding defensive backs/wide receivers, do you feel the Vegas guys will be all over it from the get go?
Otherwise, if I were a betting man, I'd go all OVERS week 1.

Vegas has raised all tge totals from where I think they should be based on last year's rules. I expect the publicmay over-react and play over inflated #s.

Heard an interesting take today from Jack Arute, who does a college football talk show on XM, that Northwestern has "systemic" problems on the football team. This kind of pointed insight usually isn't printed in Chicago, where the resident Tribune scribe is an NU grad who promotes the team, and is very reticent to criticize coaches. But nationally, there appears to be more than a little smoke and fire about the team's supposed internal unrest. Too easy for the media or anyone to suggest the union thing has anything to do with it. No matter the reason, are we seeing signs that maybe the Fitz is losing his team? I say that recognizing I have some sheckels on them tomorrow. Not crazy about betting into such uncertainty and speculation. Buying back some of that bet might make sense. And to be clear -- Fitz appears to be a solid guy, so if anything is going down, I hope he can fix it. That would be a much better solution for him, the players and all who love NU than having Chicago's Big Ten Team devolve after nearly 20 years of relevance.

Is Northwestern a team uninspired? Is there something going on with the team? Or are they just not any good? Their QB certainly has regressed...he is no longer Big Ten quality...but then as long as the league continues to allow Purdue in it, he is not the worst QB in the league. Whatever, they are unbettable, and 10-14 points lower on the power ratings than they were last year.
