I'm doing some corn and chicken sausage on the grill. Idk what game I want to watch though. I love the smell of charring corn husk. It's intoxicating.

North Carolina/South Carolina play at 5, Pack plays at 6, Santana and Davis dominate at 6:20, Khaki boy plays at 7:30, Minnesota/TCU play at 8 and the NFL has a game on Fox at 9:00.

Miami – When catcher Nevin Ashley headed for his locker Monday after Class AAA Colorado Springs played the final game of its season, he was approached by manager Rick Sweet. Ashley figured Sweet was going to wish him a good off-season.
Instead, Sweet told Ashley he had been called up by the Brewers. When you’ve spent 10 years in the minors with nary a day in the big leagues, it takes a while to process that information.
“It’s been 10 years waiting so it was definitely a good feeling,” said Ashley, who was signed as a minor-league free agent by the Brewers in January. “It’s a great accomplishment for the season I had.”
That’s the way the Brewers saw it as well. They could have recalled Juan Centeno, who is on the 40-man roster, to be their third catcher for the final month instead of adding Ashley, a non-roster player. But they felt Ashley deserved his first taste of the majors after batting .306 in 94 games with eight homers, 61 RBI and a .374 on-base percentage.
“Any time puts in that much time and a lot of work over those 10 years, to get the opportunity means he earned it,” said Brewers manager Craig Counsell. “It’s great to reward people like that who have earned it.
“He had a nice season. He played his way into consideration. At that point, you take the guy who earned it.”
As for Ashley sticking it out 10 years in the minors for this chance, Counsell said, “It shows a love of the game, for sure. That player has been told ‘no’ a lot. He’s probably been told ‘you’re not quite good enough’ a lot. So, there’s a perseverance you know is in him.”
Ashley had sent wife Ashley (yes, her name is Ashley Ashley) and young son Gaige back home to Evansville, Ind., a few days ago with the idea of joining them after the season finale. Instead, he and infielder Luis Sardinas, also called up, headed here to join the Brewers.
“Since I was a kid, I dreamed of this,” he said. “Throughout the year, I kept grinding and it turned out. I’ll take this detour any day. It’s a dream come true. I’m just excited it happened this year with the Brewers.”
Selected by Tampa Bay in the sixth round of the 2006 draft out of Indiana State, Ashley once was considered a solid big-league prospect. He was named the best defensive catcher in the Rays’ system by Baseball America in 2009 and 2010, and was named to the Arizona Fall League’s all-prospect team in ’09.
But some trades at the big-league level blocked Ashley from advancing to Tampa Bay and he struggled at the plate when reaching the Class AAA level. He also broke his throwing hand in 2012 and missed most of that season.
Before he knew it, the opportunity had slipped away with the Rays. He signed as a free agent with Cincinnati after the ’12 season, then moved on the following year to Pittsburgh. There would be no big-league openings at those stops, either.
Ashley briefly considered hanging up his catching gear but his wife told him to stick with it.
“There was a time in 2013 when I was close to hanging it up but my wife told me, ‘Your body is capable of doing this. This is your dream. Don’t give up now.’ I had as great mentor in (former Reds catcher) Corky Miller and he helped me find the love of the game again. Now, I’m here.”
Finally.
