It's Roberto Clemente day in Pittsburgh. What a great player he was. If you haven't watched him, or even if you have, check out some of his stuff on You Tube. He could hit, hit for power, run, catch and especially throw. He was the original five tool player.

Cubs fans have to love the fire and the passion. His team in the heat of a race does too. It's easy to be accused of liking something because "the anointed one" says it. I'm tired of that shit. I've seen enough, and there's a track record, where I trust the guy. One of my best friends doesn't realize how smart he is. He has an idiot brother. He had an amazing idea for something that's taking off. His brother said "if I came up with it, you would have said it's shit!" He's right. Because it probably would have been. Joe Maddon isn't a God. I also think the excitement about him becoming manager is a straw man for angry people.  I don't WANT got get into a dumb baseball rules fight with the Cardinals. But many of these young guys are super basebally. I've been concerned about it. They might need this to get over the hump. Myself, I'm tired of not hating the Packers, Cardinals, Canucks, etc. I'd love to have a team I legitimately dislike and win. Win it all. |

Also, what if they don't do a thing? It's Speeps' point about getting in their head, which is how I normally work. If they toss a ball at Heyward's head tomorrow, I'll be surprised. We can also move this to the Cubs thread.

I still think if they were going to get into a dumb baseball fight they would have today. He could have had Ramirez or Rodney drill someone and not give a shit if they were gone for a few days in the principals office.
I think the guy is as a better psychologist than nuts and bolts baseball guy. All his crazy antics serve a purpose.....baseball is notorious for having cliques....whats the best way to break that and make everyone feel the same....have nutty dress up time. Today he basically mocked the Cardinals for being dumbass meatheads. What are they going to do...put more Cub batters on base and get ejected? Hopefully they just get pissed and frustrated and more pissed and more frustrated until they break.

If he's wrong, he's the type of guy that I gauge will admit he was wrong. Maybe not instantly, but eventually.
