Updated 10:43AM—Reliable police and media sources have told us that charges are filed. Thanks for your patience as we dot the i's and cross the t's to get it right. ---------------------- The driver of Checker Cab 1331 was just doing his job when he drove some fares to Lakeview from Delaware Place early this morning. Somewhere along the line, things took an unexpected turn. The janitor of a highrise near Irving Park and Pine Grove called police at 12:55 this morning to report that the cabbie was in the building lobby, shaken, allegedly battered, and carjacked by his former passengers. Police quickly located his cab, abandoned at Lake Shore Drive and Waveland. They also located and took into custody one of the alleged perpetrators: A moderately well-known sports reporter. CWB is withholding the man’s name because charges have not yet been filed. Evidence technicians are working the taxi over and detectives are pursuing the case. Police have classified the incident as vehicular hijacking in case HX472070. crimeinboystown.blogspot.com/?m=1KS Prediction: Adam Harris

The comments section gives some hints. Didn't help me put two and two together but might for somebody else.
Zach Zaidman flying off the handle would be fun.
My new prediction is George Offman.

It could be that douchey guy that calls KC Cougars games and is occasionally on the score. He seems like kind of a prick who could get hammered and become stupid.

The comments section makes it seem like it's somebody from WLS or maybe WBBM. Doesn't seem like a Score or ESPN guy.
And whoever it is apparently has more followers on Twitter than Giangreco. (14.5K)

Robert Klemko!! Robert Klemko, Sports Illustrated’s Chicago-based NFL reporter and a frequent sports media guest, was arrested in his Lake View condo early Saturday morning, after a Checker taxi driver reported being cabjacked. CWB sources say Klemko is charged with battery and criminal trespass to a vehicle in connection with the incident that police classified as vehicular hijacking. The victim, we are told, did not want to pursue felony charges. Klemko, 27, gained significant media exposure after live Tweeting his "arrest" during the Ferguson riots. He did not turn to social media for today's arrest. Police responded to Klemko’s high rise at Irving Park and Pine Grove around 1AM after a janitor called 911 to report that a cabbie was in the lobby—shaken after being allegedly battered and carjacked by passengers. The cabbie told police that Klemko and his companions entered his cab downtown off of Delaware Place. Exactly what transpired between there and Lake View is not yet clear. From what we have gathered through sources, at some point, Klemko headed to his apartment and a handful of people who remained inside the taxi sped off, abandoning the cab moments later at Waveland and Lake Shore Drive. Police reviewed the building's surveillance footage before taking Klemko into custody. Detectives are working to identify other suspects in the case, CPD #HX472070. crimeinboystown.blogspot.com/2014/10/jock-jammed-sports-reporter-charged.html

I usually skip his articles on MMQB. Just doesn't interest me. What the hell was his motive?!?!
Delaware place is a nice cab fare to his place but steal his car?!?

That's disappointing.
I mean that it isn't someone more well known.

It really is a drag. Robert fucking Klemko? meh.
The thought of Laurence keeping it real, or Spiegs losing it post-Tributo show, or Silvy going all NWO, maybe Steven Berger finally going off........man. I feel like we really missed out.

Laurence has people to keep that stuff out of the media. Do you have any idea how many cab drivers were asking for it, and he was going to step to? Countless. Reports like that can ruin a career. He has cops everywhere keeping things on the hush.

So Klemko was suspended for 4 weeks. Nobody cares..........except for Mark Mravic, Assistant managing editor, Sports Illustrated and The MMQB......who decided to start following me after I mentioned Klemko's name on the Twitter following the incident.
Drop In's idea of Laurence keeping it 100 would've been so, so, so damn great.
Fuck you, Robert Klemko.
