I'm one minute in, and I can already tell I'm going to clutter the podcast thread.
Vince just said the Network has a 95% approval rating. I hope he isn't as confidant in that number as the way it was presented.

It's amazing how much Vince hates "pro wrestling" as a term. Possibly in general. "That's what my dad did!" I love Stone Cold, but I want to go further with so many of these questions.

I now remember why I wanted to break this down. Despite all of the other comments, Vince just said "well don't piss anyone off!" Austin was suggesting performers have to walk on eggshells because they don't have anywhere else to go. If I'm working for any company, that's all sorts of mixed signals. Do you want me to step up and speak my mind, or do you want me to take the shit script and smile?
I forgot he follows it up with the now infamous millennials comment. Do you think it's possible Vince can't see that it's a combination of current structure as well?

What do you do if you're Cesaro? Vince basically called your punk card. Not that Punk. I have an idea, but I'd be interested to hear others thoughts. Also, how was he on the mic in ROH?

I wonder if Vince sensed weakness in Cesaro and therefore gave him the yodeling gimmick just to see if Cesaro would tell somebody that this gimmick is fucking stupid and I'm not doing it.

I'd guess a writer came up with it. At that point, your theory holds some water. But this is a perfect example. Most guys think if they shit on it, they will be buried even more. "Welcome to Superstars! You'll be facing a local wrestler named JTG tonight!" (Because they didn't know he was on the roster)

Vince really can be a charming SOB. I totally understand the stories of people walking in pissed, yelling, getting nothing they asked for, and walking out happy.

"Welcome to Superstars! You'll be facing a local wrestler named JTG tonight!" (Because they didn't know he was on the roster) Exactly. After listening to guys like Stone Cold, Jericho, Punk, stories about Cena, they all had gotten to the point where they could pretty much veto most storylines they didn't like BUT how in the hell do you get to that point? I imagine it's a pretty damn thin line between grabbing the ring, or pissing off Vince. I'm not a Ryder guy by any means but he put himself out there and inexplicably to me, got over pretty good. He got a mini push out of it but they snuffed it out rather quickly anyways.

Oh, and Ryder definitely doesn't have that type of personality. He might literally shit his pants confronting Vince.
Vince tried to fine Austin 650k for walking out. Hahaha. Punk's walkout makes more sense everyday.

I was very interested about Punk saying (not on this podcast but his) that no compete clauses are not legally binding for independent contractors. I haven't heard anybody refute that. That seems like a pretty big deal to me going forward.

That seems like a pretty big deal to me going forward. This is very true. For the most part, non-competes are illegal in Illinois. That has nothing to do with being an independent contractor. If it's important enough, any attorney can remove most terms of a non-compete. In WWE's case, most are three months. It was put in to eliminate people jumping during the Monday Night War. It would take well over three months in the legal system to fight it, so people just accept the three months.

Stone Cold: JR and I sat around and started booking the territory.
Vince: Great. Give me some ideas.
I wish he was sincere.

They wouldn't even need to to do much thinking if they would just let guys wrestle. There should always be a good solid 90 minutes of televised bell to bell action. Currently they're somewhere around 23% or so of actual wrestling on a show. No opening promo should go more than 15 minutes. TOPS. 10 would be nice. I'm even willing to lose some entrances if it means more rasslin.

I don't care if the extra fifteen minutes was a work. I still popped.
I know it sounds crazy KS, but they typically lose viewers with long matches.
