FYI.......
Light rain is falling at Richmond International Raceway, where the Toyota Owners 400 NASCAR race is scheduled to get underway at 7 p.m.
The National Weather Service is a calling for an 80 percent chance of showers at race time with temperatures falling into the 40s. The weather service says half an inch of precipitation is possible.
Aimee Turner, director of communications at RIR, says the track is planning for racing tonight.
"We're monitoring the weather and will do everything we can to have the race tonight," she said.
Turner advised fans to download the RIR mobile app and to monitor the track's social media streams for updates.
Fans coming to the race should be prepared for inclement weather, but Turner says umbrellas should be left at home because they are not allowed in RIR's grandstands.
If tonight's race is canceled, it will be run on the next raceable day, Turner said.
Sunday's forecast calls for a 70 percent of rain until about 2 p.m., then cloudy skies with a high of 57.

Why do you get up earlier on the weekends than during the week? Generally speaking I sleep from approx 4:00am to 11:00am regardless of the day. Though people around here are louder on the weekends.  |

Where did Venu go? He was much nicer. Venu wasn't cutting it anymore. Last place and not gaining enough points, had to make a tough decision. He is still my neighbor and I'll get his mail for him when he is out of town, but I'm not going to let him tank my NASCAR picks. Just doing what's best for business. Now Ravi does have a bit of a competitive fighters spirit in him that's for sure. I don't know what he called me after I beat him in a game of dominoes the other night but it was loud and long and he slammed the table with his palm. I might have heard the goddess Shiva's name invoked but not certain. |
