Three of your (my) favorite things, all in one thread! Battlefield 4 and AC4: Black Flag released today. I've purchased neither...will probably wait for the Holiday Steam Sales. Both look like minor improvements over previous entries, but sometimes that is good enough. Most Anticipated Game As of Today? Infamous: Second Son.

Watch Dogs getting delayed really burst my next gen launch bubble.
That said, I'm looking forward to AC4. Not expecting anything other than minor improvemnts, but pirates!!!
And yes, Second Son looks delish. Open world game in Seattle, FTW

Yeah, Watch Dogs certainly looks great. I don't mind a singular delay on a game...especially with one having that much scale. I'm sure they were fine for PC and next-gen...but that tech looks sort of tough for current gen hardware to pull off.

Well, at least it's actually real HD this time and not 600 or whatever the previous versions were.

Anyone play the new Batman Origins? Looks good, but I stick to sports games really only.

I'm so behind in my games -- I've actually got a few days off starting tomorrow so hoping to finish up Heavy Rain by Wednesday morning.... don't have the time to play them as much anymore as I did when I was single. I still have to finish Assassin's Creed II!

Is anyone playing any really cool turn based strategy games? I used to screw with Sim City but that is so old. One I really loved was a Win 3.1 sci-fi game called Outpost. Not really big on the shooter stuff as my kid will just kick my ass. If anyone has ideas to look into i's appreciate.

XCOM Civ 4 and 5 Crusader Kings II Europa Universalis IV I've only played the Civ games, but the other 3 are very highly rated.

If you pick up CKII, you have to get the Sword of Islam expansion. It is the best.

Of course IMU recommends something with Islam in the title...
...so I got my PS3 back in the entertainment center and ddecided to do some GT5.
Apparently I never made it past getting my license...just won my first race...lol.

Why do PS3 games seem to need 250MB of updates every time I go to play one?
I get why there are so many updates when I haven't played in a while...but comparing this to the 360, where it seems to take no more than half a minute or so...I'm wondering why there is the huge disparity.

I don't recall many 250 MB updates...those are only large patches that add features. But there are many annoying 15MB - 35MB patches...and on PC, that would be no more than 10 seconds. But PSN is quite slow...a negative I'll never try to gloss over. However...it becomes a huge upside of Playstation Plus. I don't have it...but a couple buddies have it, and they swear by Auto-Update and the free games.

I believe Sony is doing an XBox Live thing for PS4. Membership is required for online play. I'm not a big online console gamer (read: not at all) so I don't know all the details.

IGN gives every AAA title a minimum of 85. If it has any multiplayer whatsoever, anything below 90 means IGN thinks it is terrible.

I had COD preordered and cancelled it because I was wanting to play BF4 more. Along with Gta5 and the new WWE2K game I couldn't really see buying Ghosts as well.
I only really play video games at night around 7:30 and it might be for like an hour or two tops a night, maybe 2-3 nights a week.
Part of the reason I cancelled my PS4 preorder was the lack of time I actually get to play now.

Embargo lifted on Xbox One previews/impressions/whatever today... sounds like the launch title favorites are Dead Rising 3 and Forza from what I read... I'm completely meh on DR3, but Forza is a launch day get for me, not that I really expect it to ever replace Gran Tourism from my life.
Oh, and it sounds like Ryse is going to be the worst of the launch titles... Dan Rockers called it "as fun as dialing phone numbers"...ruh roh

It seems like, overall, the Gran Turismo 6 hype is dominating any talk of Forza. I don't think Sony / Yamauchi was happy with most people thinking GT5 and Forza 4 were interchangeable in terms of quality racing simulation.

I'll be honest... I completely forgot about GT6...is it looking like a big upgrade over 5? I just started playing that again, and I really have only scratched the surface on it, so unless there's a huge motivation for me to grab it, I think GT5 and Forza 5 will be able to satisfy my driving needs for a while.

Huge upgrade is an understatement. One of the coolest, awkward features is the ability to create a track based on your smartphone's GPS and a downloadable app. It creates the track in game based on routes you create driving around in life. So if you wanted to see what your trip to work is like going WOT in a Ferrari FF...now you can. Besides that - new game engine, better sound, physics, cars, and tracks (Bathurst! Silverstone! Willow Springs!). edit: Still no MK6 GTI - I assume the MK7 GTI will be upcoming DLC, as well as the McLaren P1 and 2015 Mustang.
