I'm having massive coleus problems this year. I'm nearly speechless over the whole thing. Those things are near indestructible, grow in either sun or shade, and might just be the easiest flower I've ever tended to. This year I can barely keep even one alive.

Should I hack off the gone to seed parts of my rhubarb? Those bitches are approaching 40+ inches in height.

i will find out how "all world" hostas are. This may sound weird but my mother had the most beautiful hostas for decades, but then she moved to Florida and they don't survive there. I got pieces of them and they flourished over 17 yrs in Chi. I brought pieces of a few of the best with me to Tx. We will see if we get enough cold weather for them to have a "normal" dormant period.

You'll have to keep us abreast of that situation. I am somewhat fascinated by Hosta's.

so were my neighbors in Wilmette who kept digging up pieces of mine. I left the new owners some great plants. I want to see their faces when they realize their suppoedly classy neighbors dig up their hostas and cut various flowers as they bloom.

Google is telling me that many types of hostas can survive and even thrive in Texas, depending on what zone you're in and particular situations like soil, shade etc....
Hosta's in Texas will require shade first and foremost.

We all have to make sacrifices, Hawger. By the way, Menards has the 5lb bags of peanuts on sale this week!!!! Please note to only feed them Unsalted Peanuts.

A neighbor on the other side of the park passed away. Her son is taking over the house and building it out. Somehow, never knew there was a guy. Just a girl. (Moved here when I was six months old). Weirdos. Met the GC last week, and they are going to have a ton, actually multiple tons, of dirt. I need multiple tons of dirt, so it seems like we have a connection. Once that's here, you might start seeing pics. I need five yards of dirt before I can even start.

My land is very wooded on two sides. I have about 200 trees. I am taking down about 75 of the scrub ones -- Cedar Elms, Mesquite, Black Oak and the female Texas Persimmon that have small fruits that make dogs sick. This will open up enough sunlight to plant about 10 pecan, peach, apple and lemon trees...and make about 8-12 4x8 raised beds for veggies, herbs and such. Lots to do!

When a random dopey faced gentleman shows up on your property with a nice Scotch, don't shoot. I'll stay in the guest house. We'll make a year out of it.

We could use a hand around here. How are you at taking on hornets, chiggers and fire ants?

What do you think is a fair cost per yard for mulch?

What do you think is a fair cost per yard for mulch? Good question. I've never really gone the bulk method. I will say 5 for $10 is as good as it'll get all summer when it comes to bagged.
