I did not. The bartenders were pretty cool. Every recommendation they gave was everything but stone. Not what you'd expect. The only stone beer I was blown away by was the smoked porter.
By no means shitting on their stuff but some of their offerings are weak (pale ale, ipas) compared to competition.
It's solid when comparing overall but I was impressed by so many other SoCal options

So I just got back from a Mon-Fri in New Orleans. A few posters have said they've been (jack, hang, coast). This was my first time. It's definitely a weird city.
for being such an old city there's really not many attractions. Or perhaps I "did it wrong"
walked around french quarter, garden district, "river walk", zoo, aquarium.
Didnt really do the audobon park or bywater area. Didn't see preservation hall or cemeteries either.
I did have a few tasty meals and plenty of delicious cocktails. The beer scene is pretty poor.
The French Quarter was really odd to me. The streets are paved in uneven pot hole ridden asphalt. Bourbon street was a tacky mess. We didn't go to any places on it. How many daiquiri/pizza places do you need?!?!?!
We didn't go to pat obriens. There was a two block wait to get in at like 7!!!! Crazy! we to some really nice happy hours around the quarter as well,as cocktails at carousel bar.
The biggest oddity was the architecture of New Orleans. I'm likely giving it too much crap given the threat of Mother Nature and its economic reality. But the riverfront to me is a joke. Wtf is a outlet mall doing taking up a half mile of riverfront property. Many "skyscrapers" are bland hotels. we stayed in the "warehouse district" just south of the quarter/business district. It seemed to have some nice developing character in converting old warehouses into restaurants/bars.
Overall odd city that Id probably a notch above Nashville but below San Diego. however given the ease/cheaper ability to get to Nashville I'd say I'm more likely to go back there rather than nola

I've been there. Drank some frozen grain alcohol shit and a bunch of beer that I BROUGHT with me. It was a smelly old shithole of what looks to have been a very cool town a few hundred years ago. It reminds me of alternate hill valley. Kind of pisses me off just thinking about it.

I probably should have died, or suffered serious injury, three times the last time I was in Louisiana.

You got Nawlins mostly. It's a dump with some character and street/night life. It is one of my favorite restaurant towns, though. I always look forward to the food.

I used to fly at least monthly for work. I haven't been on a plane in five years. Yikes. Time to change that trend.

There's a romantic quality to travel and getting to experience new places and people. However, I think most work travelers get jaded by airports, airlines and the solidarity. Once a month seems to be just the right amount.

I travel almost every week. In the first three months of this year, I have been to Raleigh, Sacramento (twice), Monterey, San Fran, Trenton, Harrisburg, LA, Wash DC, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Des Moines and Phoenix. I have had to deal with snow, cold, idiot recliners, all manner of bad drivers, and today, a warning in my hotel to keep my balcony door closed to keep out the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug.
The only good thing I will get out of all this is the miles...a couple of first class tickets to Europe are in my future. Otherwise, biz travel blows.

I am going to Iowa next weekend, does that count? Yes Iowa counts. I have had a lifelong obsession (grew up in Iowa) to enjoy as many Iowa pork tenderloins as I can. Always looking for great spots to enjoy this Classic, with the best ones often found in non-descript bars in small farm towns.

Kirkwood is leaving tonight for beatiful Tucson(hahahahahaha). We have an annual golf trip with friends and I have zero idea why the organizer picked Tucson. Very very odd.
There's also the fact that I don't golf...so yea. But I have some friends that live in Tucson so I'll be going to say hi to them and hang out with golf buddies as well.

I was in Tuscon once for a few days during college on a spring break. 4 doods, an 80lb dog, and luggage drove from Kansas to AZ in a 2 door, 2 seater Ford EXP hatchback because our friend with the SUV said his parents wouldn't let him drive it out of state. That was a rough week - but luckily we had plenty of alterants to aid our journey. Also would never go back to Tucson again so there's that. Next golf trip come to NC dummy!

Why the hell was Tucson a pitstop?!?! Was the final destination Mexico? Jesus, 4 guys and a big dog. Lost your damn minds.

The owner of the EXP had a sister that lived there - free housing for broke college kids. And she was willing to supply lots of booze and food for us. We thought about going to Mexico but realized at least one if not all of us probably wouldn't make it back. We erred on the side of caution.
