It's heartbreaking. Dusty was my all time favorite talker. Piper was easily in the Top 5 (maybe Top 3). When I first started watching as a kid, he was one of my favorite "good guys", but when I started watching stuff from the mid 80s, I realized he was one of the greatest heels of all time.
This truly sucks. I even bought a Hot Rod shirt when I was in Vegas a few months ago.

- As PWMania.com reported, WWE Hall of Famer Roddy Piper has passed away at the age of 61. TMZ reports Piper passed away from natural causes at his home in Hollywood.
TMZ has updated their original report and noted that Piper died from cardiac arrest in his sleep on Thursday night. He was found on Friday.
Piper’s rep told TMZ:
“I am devastated at this news. Rod was a good friend as well as a client and one of the most generous, sincere and authentic people I have ever known. This is a true loss to us all.”
A family member told TMZ Piper was cancer free at the time of his death. They issued this statement:
“Our family is saddened by the sudden passing of our father and beloved husband, Roderick Toombs aka Rowdy Roddy Piper.”

I know I've told the story a thousand times but to sum it up: My buddy and I followed stalked Piper's limousine one night after a WCW show in Milwaukee. First he went to some bar/restaurant place and he ate in the restaurant part which was only open to him (as it was like 11 at night) After that, he went to a hotel in Milwaukee where (unbeknownst to us) the wrestlers were all staying at. The following few hours was one of the greatest nights of my life.
Thanks Roddy.

In classic #RoddyPiper fashion, he once again steals the attention away from Hulk Hogan.

Dammit. On vacation in Florida and saw the news. I loved Pipes. He was my favorite back when I first saw him on Georgia Championship Wrestling with Gordon Solie. I loved how he got crazy during his interviews. Most recently I loved his podcast. He was one of the greatest heels of all time. He retweeted my tweet to him a couple of days ago.
#RipRoddy. The legend will be missed.

We stayed in the hotel bar where all the wrestlers were for the great majority of the time, but we did try to tail Hogan and find out where he went in the hotel at one point. No luck though.

Piper is definitely one of my all-time favorites. Totally sucks. He had quite a ride. His podcasts on Stone Cold' show were pretty chilling.
Been watching some of his stuff now. His match at WM8 with Bret Hart was the best or second best match on the card. IMO, his best WM match he ever had.
I also loved him as a good guy feuding with nWo Hogan oin WCW. Some great stuff in there as well. I actually think RAW missed an opportunitiy to have him on in some capacity in the Attitude Era.

By the way Roddy ad-libbed the line. It wasn't in the script.

The story of when Piper wrestled Bad News at WM6 & did the half black paint thing, only for Andre & Skaaland (I think that's who it was) to dump out the stuff that took the paint off & put water in it. Piper had to walk through airports half black & he'd almost be bleeding how much he was trying to scrub it off, but it wouldn't come off.
Amazing.
