Sad to say but the 2013 season is in the books for most of us. Just wanted to see if anyone had any offseason plans. This could include golf trips to somewhere warm, picking up some new equipment, or game improvement of some sort.
I have no plans to travel to golf the next 5 months. I really hope to focus on my physical well being, by hitting the gym and improving my flexibility and strength. Hopefully these steps will allow me to also lose weight I have been meaning to take off for a long time. I will review my current aresenal of clubs but no major changes are planned there. I picked up a new 1-iron late in this season so that will probably be it. Possibly a new SW or Lob Wedge. I'd like to regrip all the clubs so that they all match. I found it off putting that I had at least 4 different club grips and sizes in the bag this season.

I need to visit an wrist specialist ASAP. I've sat tight with whatever this is for almost 2 months now I think, and it still isn't pain-free. I miss golfing / the driving range.

I got to golf a few times this summer for the first tie since pretenure-track. It was glorious, my dad strength but about 30 yards on my drive. I am going to Austin in February and possibly Vegas in March, so I think I will look into places to play.
Also, this summer was the first time I played here - since leaving Illinois - and the hills & mountains here make golfing quite a different experience and harder to find (there are only 2 public courses in the whole COUNTY and only 1 private).

You probably want to get that looked at so you will have some time to rehab if that is what is necesssary. Sucks to be injured. I know it has been bothering you for a while now.

Got some new sticks in the mail over the last couple of weeks, so excited to work with those during the winter months. Other than that I plan on catching up on reading some golf books.

I'm going out Saturday. If the weather cooperates I'll go out anytime in Nov or Dec. I remember playing on a cloudy but warm (by December standards) Saturday morning last year a couple weeks before Christmas. Shot really well, so it was a good way to end the season. I'll be doing the Eskimo Open in January at Cog Hill for the 4th year in a row.
After that the sticks usually stay in the closet until March when I'll hit a heated/indoor range to take a few swings. Usually our first round is in mid to late March at Stony Creek in Oak Lawn.

Club fitting is a great way to set yourself up for success, but I wouldn't spend too much money on a clubfitter. You can get some great information from Golf Galaxy or Golfsmith, usually for next to nothing. The vast majority of amateur players will not benefit enough from a club-fitting session to offset the cost of a "professional" fitting. This page gives you a good rundown of what can be adjusted in a set of clubs: www.callawaygolfpreowned.com/clubs/customization-services,default,sc.html

Just realized I only played one round this year.
Horrible.
