It finally happened, and I have been waiting for this proposal. Sen Wyden proposed a tax on unrealized capital gains. I want to see how the please tax me more guy, Warren Buffett, responds. He complains how his secretary pays more income tax than him while neglecting to explain why. It is simply because all his wealth is from unrealized gains. Under the proposal he would face more than $15B in income tax liabilities.
The proposal is unworkable. I just want to see how good ole Warren responds.

I actually don't think he'd have a huge problem with it, but I'm glad he's being put on the spot. I respect and study the man, but this challenges the "oh shucks" perception. He's not wrong about the secretary comp in theory. But, to your point, put down a fiscal plan behind it. Numbers are kind of his thing. |

Hard to argue. Hopefully powers that be keep fending off Trump's efforts to get more aggressive with the fed. I'm no D-Man, but I've paid for more attention to the economy and market in the last year. The only warning sign I see is the deficit. There aren't any huge bubbles being created. At least that I see. Historic. |
