After letting it set in some more and thinking about, I think the problem is that it was a movie in the Star Wars universe but it didn't feel like any of the other Star Wars movies. There were some story arc parallels to Empire, but not explored enough IMO. There was a lot left on the table that the director could have really made this incredible but it just never happened. That being said I am still going to see it a bunch more times

Just saw it. I am really conflicted as I loved parts of it and absolutely hated others. Need to see it again 17 times to really decide. I feel the same. Though I don't think anything reached "hate" level. More like didn't like and thought were dumb. Highs outweighed the lows though. And I popped at the porg.

I’m still wrapping my head around this movie. Search your feelings, you know it to be true...

Saw it again this afternoon with my kids. Overall opinion hasn't changed and the parts with Admiral Holdo just sucked even more the second time. Why was she even in the movie?? Honestly I think my overall opinion of the movie would be much better if she just wasn't in it. But the parts with Rey and Kylo were even better. And I am even good now with the decisions around those characters. Kids though - didn't laugh once and my oldest was weirded out (like I was) with the milk scene. She asked me after what the point of that was. They liked the parts with Rey and Luke and even some stuff with Finn, but didn't understand alot of it.

I held many of the thoughts you did after my first, and especially second showing with Holdo. I'll stick with my original defense. They were trying to show Poe has all the talent in the world but wasn't ready to be THE leader. Sound familiar? Definitely an imperfect movie that we might appreciate more with time.

For all the dumb shit with Holdo it was still enjoyable.
The Survivor:Ach-To stuff wasn't as terrible the second time

It didn't take religion. Just individuals that stepped up. I can get behind it. Thoughts?

Pussification of the galaxy.
"Oh you want to be a Jedi? You can do it! All you have to do is want it."
You don't think Watto would've liked to be a Jedi? How about Jar Jar? Heesa tried but nosa Jedi for him.

Got home and discovered this is available on Google Play. Now I really nerd it up until I fall asleep in seven minutes.

I’m still wrapping my head around this movie. I wanted to wrap my car around a pole after watching this movie.

The last forty minutes are fun but this movie is a total mess. It’s not Star Wars. It’s Lord of the Rings in Space.
