Me neither. I don't think it was but now I hope they say it was intentional.

Yeah I immediately thought of that today when I read it too.
He was the best big man ever IMO. I was so blown away as a kid when I first saw Vader. I wasn't a big WCW fan in the early 90s, so my viewing of the pre-Bischoff ran WCW came from old VHS tapes from the video store. Vader was a fucking beast! His matches with Sting and Cactus were awesome. The Starrcade match with Flair in 93 is fantastic (a VHS I still own) too.
Then I watched some of his Japan stuff, holy shit. The Stan Hansen war was brutal.
While his WWF run probably wasn't as big as anyone had hoped, I've been watching old RAWs from 96 and Vader was definitely over as a monster heel.
Really wish they would've put him in the Hall of Fame this past year. Just a missed opportunity.

It was just a couple days ago that word started making the rounds that Sami Zayn is injured, and that’s why he was booked to lose to Bobby Lashley without putting up much of a fight at Money in the Bank this past weekend. Thanks to an interview he gave WWE.com, we now know the extent of it, and it’s pretty bad.
From the man himself (full interview here):
Well, right now I’m in Birmingham, Ala. I just underwent surgery for my right shoulder, a.k.a. my good shoulder. So, I’m out for a little while with that. I guess people don’t know about this injury; I’ve been working with it for some time. I don’t know exactly when I tore it. I think I tore it, or initially injured it, on a Montreal Live Event. Which is ironic because I injured my left shoulder — now somewhat famously — in Montreal in my [Raw] debut against John Cena. And at a Live Event this past August wrestling Jinder Mahal, I think I injured it then.
But then my left shoulder, a.k.a my bad shoulder, started to act up again as well. That shoulder hasn’t quite been the same since surgery anyway, so I had just kind of gotten used to the fact that that shoulder was the bad one. But it started to get progressively worse, so basically, long story short, it turns out I have two torn rotator cuffs. The left one and the right one are both torn. I just underwent surgery on the right one, and then in about six or seven weeks, I’ll be undergoing surgery on the left one, and hopefully I can come back healthy and happy.
So, really, Zayn is one of the toughest people you know because he’s been all messed up for a while now and it’s barely registered. That doesn’t cushion the blow of the bad news, that he’ll be out until at least 2019 and his best hope is that he’ll be ready in time for WrestleMania 35 next April in New Jersey.
What makes this even more of a shame is, as he says in the full article, he’s been finding his voice again as a performer and really finding his character in WWE. His run alongside Kevin Owens has been a lot of fun.

It always happens to the best/most entertaining guys. With the exception of this disasterous storyline with Lashley, heel Sami Zayn is one of the consistent (albeit very few) highlights of WWE programming each week.
I'd honestly love it if he came back as a mouthpiece for someone or fuck it, boot Graves off commentary on ether brand (we know they won't boot Coach). He'd be an asset in that regard.
Or hell he'll be rehabbing in Florida, put him on commentary in NXT. Then as he's getting better, you can build a feud with a younger guy.

I don't understand the WWE's handling of Rollins over the past couple of weeks.

They're doing a multi man match at Extreme Rules to determine who faces Brock at Summerslam, right? Rollins could win that and face Brock.

I've only seen bits and snippets but didn't Seth have to use the trunks against Elias at MITB? That in itself is odd if true. A white-hot babyface has to cheat to win. Then he loses to Dolph Ziggler of all people the very next night. DOLPH ZIGGLER!!!
Seth was organically becoming HUGE with the fanbase (and then of course they had to go and tell us how hot he was and kinda ruin the organic element of the whole thing). But he was doing the whole fighting champion thing. Taking shots at Brock. And it just seemed like it was setting up for white-hot Rollins the Intercontinental Champ vs Brock at Summerfest.
Yes he could win the multi man but some of the luster was taken away both on Sunday and then again on Monday night.

Plus if you're having him drop the title, drop it to Elias for gosh sake.

Unless they didn't think Drifter was ready. I'd honestly prefer they had given it to McIntyre if they were going to do a switch. I'd like Drew/Balor, Drew/Rollins, Drew/Lashley, Drew/Gable (had they not been burying Gable).
This could very well be a quick switch and Rollins could win it back soon, who knows with Vince.
Or hell, Roman could beat Ziggler for all we know, which would suck.

Rollins was working with a "hurt" knee. He didn't lose momentum dropping the title. Drew obviously would have been the better choice right now. But that's what people wanted. Now people REALLY want Drew to win the title. Maybe I'm giving too much credit, but I believe what JR has been saying. They (Vince) have learned about shoving people into a push, or doing things too soon. Drew can be the heater for Ziggler for a while and pick up a base. I think we'll see Strowman v McIntyre headline a Mania. Rollins could be heading towards bigger feuds. I actually feel OK about all of it.

It'd be less of a grueling schedule I assume if he went elsewhere and picked where he worked.
All that said, they need to do Nakamura/Bryan at least once before he goes.
Miz should definitely win the final match though. That'd give him nuclear heat with fans if he won a Loser Leaves WWE match against him.
Bryan on the indies would be amazing.

I think I prefer Daniel Bryan staying in WWE. Sure there are dream matches in New Japan. But I'd argue there are dream matches still to have in WWE because of the time off.

I worry about his health outside the WWE. WWE is so scared of lawsuits that they are closely watching his matches and forcing him to take tests after each one. ROH and NJPW won't be as strict. Daniel, you have a hot wife and a kid, plus the WWE fans love you; stay in the company.

The Ascension beat Slater and Rhyno on Main Event. Reason I'm posting this is because it's their first win as a team since the February 8th 2016 taping of Superstars.
Now it's really just Curt Hawkins who has his massive losing streak. Which they should honestly culminate with him winning a title or something. Don't waste it on Main Event or a random match with someone like No Way Jose.
Hawkins vs Brock!! Hey, I'd take it over Reigns/Brock 4

With the lack of teams on Raw, I wish Breezango would've gotten a title shot or run. Feud with the Revival for the titles would've been good actually.
Wish they'd do something with them once he returns, but it doesn't seem likely.
Fashion Files during Dango's time off with Breeze helping him in rehab would be funny.

Fandango's surgery was a success.
Also Goldust had surgery on both of his knees too, which was a success as well.

WWE didn't get any Emmy nominations
So that whole "please give us Emmys" event they put on was for nothing.
Thank God. I don't think we'd ever hear the end of them referring to themselves as "Emmy Nominated"

WWE is just BRUTAL these days. It makes me quite sad. I watch very little TV and WWE has always been apart of it for a couple decades or whatever it's been. (Since the NWO and then the demise of WCW)
I haven't ever really loved it during that time, it's just that it's been the only consistent, high production company around during that timeframe. I probably would've loved ROH back in the days of Owens or Bryan or whatever but I didn't really know a thing about them.
I really can't get invested right now. I try to watch Raw's or Smackdown's but it's usually days if not a week later and they ALWAYS disappoint. Always. The comedy is sophomoric. The dancing. The stereotypes. The absolute mishandling of world renowned wrestlers. The whole thing. It disgusts me. It really does. I'm trying to fight thru this but it's not working so far.

Only watch NXT. Problem solved.
One hour a week. Damn near every Takeover leaves you saying holy shit. And they're storylines actually build towards something.
And also watch New Japan. G1 just started and you can get invested in the tournament.
There's far better options than RAW or SD, but we keep going back because it's what we know & do. It's hard to quit it, but they're making it easier with their dumb storylines and awful acting and commentary.

I actually think watching NXT might in fact piss me off more. You guys always have high hopes for many, many NXT acts and then they come up, I check them out, and more times than not they suck. THAT would piss me off even more. To see and know how well used they were in NXT and then to see them misused on the "big" shows.
And if I only watched NXT, I would probably get tired of the revolving door of wrestlers. Here one day, gone 6 months to a year later. It's the same reason why I've soured substantially on ROH. You just start getting vested in a guy and the next thing you know he's signing a developmental with NXT.
My thing with New Japan is the promos and the like. The wrestling is crazy crazy good but I need a little more entertainment than that. From a promo, skit perspective.

If you're basing what they accomplish on the main roster as your reasoning not to watch them in NXT, you're going about it all wrong.
If anything that should result in you not watching the main roster programming as opposed to NXT. If they're putting on solid to great matches down there, with good storylines, only to go up to the main roster and be absolutely wasted, why waste your time watching RAW or SD if you know you'll be disappointed?
I do agree it's hard to get invested in Indy wrestlers as at times it does seem like a revolving door of talent, but these days if you're drawn to a talent like say Matthew Riddle, chances are he's wresting for different promotions all over that have streaming services that you can see him on. Once he gets signed to a major company, you'll be that more invested.

Yeah watch NXT. It's old school wrestling TV. One hour and out.
I don't watch any main WWE shows anymore with any regularity. But New Japan holds my interest along with ROH and once in a while even Impact.
