This whole thing is moving too fast.
Slow down.
Sassafrass.

This whole thing is moving too fast. Slow down. Sassafrass. 12-18 months? My guess is they've already been working on it for 4-6 months. Around the time the industry found out about WWE's TV deals.

The wrestling landscape in 2018 almost feels like a modern return to the territory system. Almost. Think about how few WWE alternatives there were for the first several years following WCW and ECW's respective deaths. Now there are several. There haven't been this many promotions since the early 80s. I like it.

It's an interesting time to be undertaking such an endeavor. Vince may be highly distracted by the XFL thing.

You and Conrad have ruined JR for me. I'm catching up on JR's pod and I just keep saying sassafrass and laughing.

I don't listen very often but it's OK. I heard he's been hinting at something big so I'm giving it a whirl.

AXS TV denies being involved.

Whatever it ends up being, I just hope I'll get the channel it's on. I want a brand new alternative to WWE. Not a promotion I've given 20 chances to like TNA (which I know has a ton of guys I'm a fan of now, but you know what I mean).
I assume The Bucks, Kenny, Cody, Hangman & maybe Marty could be part of this (I know it says it in the article that's it's possible), which would be very interesting.
Maybe this would force WWE to actually be creative with storylines? Probably not though since they've already gotten paid.

Late 2019 or 2020?
A lot could happen between now and then to change their plans.

I wasn't sure if this thread was the correct place to put that?

New BTE is up.
They wish a certain sledgehammer wielding gentleman with one initial the best of luck in his future endeavors after watching an episode of Raw and seeing what they did to the tag team division.
SCU got the countdown clock on their phones at the end of the ep. 15 days.
I assume that's when All Elite Wrestling is official. Hope the best for these guys. This is a huge chance they're taking. I also hope I get whatever TV they'll be on once they get a deal.

Countdown led to Bucks and Cody showing Double or Nothing logo, while Hangman showed AEW logo.

They're doing a rally in Jacksonville down the street from Smackdown next week. There's no TV deal yet. It wouldn't surprise me if they waited until October to do a weekly show. But that's pure speculation on my part. 2019 is going to be an interesting year in wrestling.

I've never been this interested or intrigued by something this big outside of WWE maybe ever.
Sure there's New Japan shows like Wrestle Kingdom and the G1 or PWG with BOLA, but those are shows. This is a new company & endeavor.
Really hope these guys succeed and get a TV deal, specifically on a channel I get. Also hope they become mega stars and force WWE to start trying again.
Exciting times for 2019 and The Elite definitely.

Exciting times for 2019 and The Elite definitely. As Tony would say, without question. I think I've been more intrigued by the business of the business than actual wrestling for fifteen years. I would love to sit in on development meetings just to hear the strategy sessions. As long as the rights fee bubble doesn't completely burst, the payoff of startup costs will come from distribution. But like I said earlier, the smart move is probably to build the brand and have something to sell. Impact had to get a mercy deal from their own company. ROH is owned by a massive media company, but ROH isn't exactly available. Plus, they don't want this thing to get corporate right away. The intrigue for this brand is it's cool, anti-corporation, and people feel like they're part of it. It needs to get legs first, then piss off all of the originals when they actually start making money.

Definitely, as much as I want this to succeed immediately, rushing into things would be a mistake.
I wonder if certain guys with contracts in other places would be tempted to go with All Elite instead of their current place of employment (whether that be WWE, Impact, ROH, etc)? I also wonder how this will effect independents? They'll need much more talent, as they can't just run with The Elite & SCU.
I'm really excited at how many questions are out there.

Dave said on WOR that there are multiple offers for television. It doesn't mean it'll happen soon as guys are still getting signed (he said Cody has signed and a few others, but the Bucks haven't yet, which he said should change in a day or two), but offers are there.
That Jaguars GM or whoever is the one in charge.
Shit is happening fast

That could also be the public stance to play nice with everyone else. Tony Khan is going to be in charge. I followed him on Twitter before I even knew he was a wrestling guy. Sharp as hell. The family story is quite the thing. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shahid_KhanIt might seem like things are moving fast, but most of the things we know have probably been in place for a couple months. Could be wrong, but everyone was being careful to not make it look like tampering, see what other organizations were offering, etc. But I'm All-In.

If this pushes WWE to better themselves, cool. I won't be watching this though.

>According to a well placed source, Tony Khan is fronting $100 million for the launch of AEW.
>Jim Ross, who has repeatedly denied involvement with AEW, will be heavily involved - both on commentary and in a backstage capacity. Ross is likely not commenting on this situation because technically he is still under contract to WWE for a few more months. JR and WWE will not be renewing their contract so you can expect that once he is officially out, his involvement will be publicized.
>Sports agent Barry Bloom, who already represents many prolific talent in the industry, is involved from a recruitment perspective. According to our source, AEW will "go hard" at WWE for stars whose deals will be expiring and they will be "mixing in legends" as well. One name that has been brought up is Goldberg, who I believe is already a client of Bloom's. Chris Jericho - who has also been rumored to be connected to this new promotion - is going to be involved "in depth" as well, as per our source. There are other WWE employees/contractors (note, this does not necessarily mean wrestlers) who AEW is going to pursue aggressively when they are legally able to.
>It was previously rumored that AEW was working on a national TV deal. As per our sources, Khan is indeed using his connections to work on a prospective TV deal and one of the networks that they are negotiating with is Time Warner to have AEW air on TNT/TBS.
>While Cody and the Young Bucks have been announced as EVPs of All Elite Wrestling, we were told that they will focus mainly on wrestling and not necessarily in the creative aspect of the promotion.
