SANADA out post match to challenge Ibushi for the titles first. Rematch from the G1 finals.
Ibushi accepts and shakes his hand. SANADA respectfully leaves.
Ibushi cuts a promo saying he's finally become a Wrestling God.

They have to separate the IC and Heavyweight titles. Having both on the same guy was cool for a bit, but one guy doesn't need them both.
Night 2 was underwhelming. Main event was solid though.

I'd honestly split them up tomorrow at Dash (I don't expect them to). I wouldn't be offended if Ibushi says he wants to focus on the IWGP title and they do a tournament or something for the IC title. If they keep up this double champion thing, they're going to have to use a way for Ibushi to lose, which, now that he's champion, shouldn't be happening (aside from random multi man tag matches where he doesn't take the fall).
If they do a regular match, SANADA should probably be the guy to beat him for the IC. Elevate him without rushing the World Title on him (ala EVIL).
Going to watch Cobb/Shingo and Hiromu/Ishimori. I really didn't care about the rest.

Well I guess that's one way to solve the problem.
Probably not the best way though.

Yeah, don't like that. IC Title means too much to just be unified.
Of all the titles in New Japan, that's not the one that needs the axe.

Something is going to happen at Dash. Switchblade said in the post show interview "after New Years Dash, that's it."
I wonder if he's leaving BC? I'd be fine with it. But where does he go? I really hope he's not turning babyface. He's the best heel in the company.
I would say join The Empire, but why would he need to do that?
I'm actually interested in Dash tonight.

His promo was solid this morning.
I think he should "leave" for a while.
Maybe show up on AEW or Impact for a couple shots. Get some buzz.
Then return to New Japan in 6 months or so.

I agree. He shows up on Dynamite (maybe he'll be a focal point of the new US show coming?) and starts something with really anyone, that's something I'm looking forward to. Maybe he gets the boot from the BC and comes back after them closer to Dominion? I like that there's questions unanswered. Makes me look forward to the future of New Japan as a whole.
That promo was some of Switchblade's best work IMO

Well that was a lot of nothing. I don't think I've ever seen that sentiment in this thread.

He's right, I just finished watching it. Pretty let down, not gonna lie.
Title programs we're looking at... ELP & Ishimori vs Despy & Kanemaru for the Jr. Tag Titles Hiromu vs SHO for the Jr. Title Shingo vs Tanahashi for the NEVER Title SANADA vs Ibushi for the World/IC Titles
They did a big injury stretcher job on Tenzan by The Empire, who needed a strong showing after WK
Kind of shocked nothing happened with Switchblade

Oh and also Owens vs Yano for the KOPW title, which I don't give a shit about
And Okada vs EVIL seems to be the one non-title program happening, so I assume they'll meet up in the New Japan Cup down the line? Another one that doesn't really appeal to me and it's certainly not because of Okada.

Gone, it seems, are the days of Dash setting up the next few months of angles and making a splash.
The last few have been pretty boring.
