How do we feel about Chief Keef? It's his birthday tomorrow and I'm highly motivated not to include him.

This was WCW quality and not what we have expected from KS as a booker. Hopefully he learns from this and can get back to building great Song of The Night events again.

Song of the Night Observer News
SOFN 8/17/23 Edition
1. The Go-Go’s - We Got The Beat (Live): Solidly booked opener. Live performance fell a bit short but this was good booking. 2 3/4 stars
2. Sexy Midnight Runners - Come On Eileen: Great spot for this song building off of the first song’s energy. 3 1/4 stars
3. Men at Work - Down Under (Live): A raucous crowd was up for this one. Perfectly booked night so far. Great performance as well. 4 stars
4. Boston - Don’t Look Back: Keeping with the energy. Crowd needed a bit of a rest here but didn’t get it. Another good song. 3 3/4 stars
5. New Kids on the Block - Hanging Tough (Live): The slot for this song made sense but it fell flat. Awful vocals. What a mess. DUD
6. Black Crowes - Hard to Handle (Live on Letterman 1990) - This continues to be a well thought out SOTN event. The booking has made sense. Most of the performances have been there. This was a good addition to this mix. 3 3/4 stars
7. Main Event - Belinda Carlisle - Heaven Is A Place On Earth (Live) - Ugh, fine song but wrong placement here. This is mid-card/upper mid-card material, possibly a show opener but main event it’s not. 2 1/4 stars
Overall strong show. This was like 1993 Rumble good. Our readers overall liked it as well. 67% gave it a thumbs up. 18% have it a thumbs in the middle and 15% gave it a thumbs down.
Best Song was surprisingly Men At Work’s Down Under (Live). Worst of the night was a live rendition of Hangin’ Tough by New Kids. You can’t trust New Kids with a live performance and that was the real mistake here by the booker.
