I swore up and down that I wasn't going to order this thing...... but I did. That might be the greatest PPV I've ever witnessed.
I'm a little bit drinky and a little bit smokey but I could swear I saw Darby Allin light Jack Perry on fire with a flamethrower.

I have carpal tunnel from how long the write up was I did for this show. Why not ramble more here since I couldn’t give live thoughts?
MAX IS BACK!
Anarchy in the Arena is billed as a shit show and that’s what it was, chaos chaos chaos. We had fire, hogtying, bud crashes, tacks, Okada, tables, chairs, etc. Perry winning was the only way to go. He benefits the most out of this. Match went too long but it always does.
Swerve & Cage was good, not great. Looking forward to seeing who they have Swerve face at Forbidden Door. This is a one off usually remember, so I’m not expecting a major storyline. Wouldn’t be shocked if it’s Mistico or someone since the PPV is in Cali
Mone & Willow overdelivered considering Mone has been out over a year. I wanted Willow to win, but she’s now off with Stat and Stokely and Mone can go off on her own.
Mox & Takeshita was very good, but more storyline based with the “bad arm” of Mox. Still had a fun hard hitting match. And it plants seeds with Takeshita on the outs with Callis
Copeland & Black was exactly what you’d want in that kind of stip. Gangrel cameo was pretty awesome too. I think Malakai & Buddy have had a foot out the door for a while, so I’m not surprised in seeing them loose. I would’ve liked Black to win though.
Ospreay winning was a fucking great opener and I hope he wins the Owens tournament and gets a shot at the title at All In, but wouldn’t be shocked if it’s not until another year.
I actually loved the storyline tidbit with Mariah teasing throwing the towel in for Toni, since Toni did it to her. Luther takes it away and gets scolded by Toni for having it. I love this storyline. Just wish they’d fully commit to Toni as a babyface at the moment. It costs the girls who she faces. Serena is just like Deonna & Rosa
JUICE IS BACK!

I love that you ignored the 3 worst matches on the show.

Trios Titles was fun, but Juice being back was the most notable.
Orange & Trent was ok, but feels like it was just another chapter in the story. It didn’t feel like it should’ve been on the PPV. I’ve missed the Pixies theme though.
FTW 3 way I said in the recap was you either like that kind of match or you don’t. I was just ok with it. If Jericho wants to make this For The World, then it shouldn’t be usual FTW hardcore rules. Make it dumb and obnoxious like Jericho’s gimmick.
Those were probably the weakest 3 on the show, though. For sure.

Juice being back might've been the highlight of the show. What a treasure.

Instead of "what if we hang the Big Boss Man" my new booking out is "what if we light Jack Perry on fire?"

I don't really have words for that. I may need to communicate in some other way.

Am I the only one who thinks it’s weird that Maria Menounos’ husband calls himself Mercedes’ “advocate” and is with her literally everywhere she goes?
Anyways, here’s Stokely being Stokely. Make them the Mami/Dom of AEW and I’ll be happy. And I have a feeling so would Stokely.

While you can question the fire spot, you knew something was happening after Darby showed up with a flamethrower on Wednesday. I thought it visually looked great and if you’re going to do that, this is the match. Would the match have been fine without it, of course, enough was jam packed to make it a big enough spectacle. This just added to it.
It really was just about the only thing Perry did in the match aside from brawl with Darby backstage and do the bus spot (which took him off screen long enough to presumably get covered in the flame protective stuff)
I liked that he got the pin though on Danielson. That gives him a bunch to brag about compared to The Bucks or Okada winning if.

I'm probably in the "teasing lighting someone on fire is enough" crowd. Although, if it happened in 2019 we probably would have thought it was awesome.

I thought it was awesome. Looked very safely done and was a great visual.

Crushed for the guy, but not surprised, that dive was brutal for the landing and how he finished that match is wild.
He’s been on quite the run with the younger wrestlers, hopefully he comes back healthy and finishes his run with Christian as a tag team.
They’ll undoubtedly strip him of the title. So hopefully this goes back to the young gun title instead of Meat Madness or Hot Potato Title
Daniel Garcia would be my choice

Speaking about this wild match, Tony Schiavone said, on the latest episode of his What Happened When podcast, that while the event was definitely memorable, he couldn't help but think to himself, "What the fuck are we doing?"
"So some things happened in that match," said Schiavone. "Obviously, the one thing that happened was Jack Perry getting burned, but a lot of things happened in that match. Darby being tied up by his legs. As that's going on, to be honest with you, I'm thinking, 'What the fuck are we doing?!'"

Edge’s dive off the cage was way more reckless than Perry being lit on fire with a flamethrower. And now we have proof.

Yeah apparently they at least practiced safely lighting Jack on fire.

And honestly you didn’t need the cage dive for the match to have the same effect. The barbed wire was the focal point, not the cage itself. It was an unnecessary spot, but guys get in there and they plan stuff out, I can’t fault him for wanting to do it. I fault them for going through with it.
Takeshita, Garcia, Brody, Perry, Rush, Starks, O’Reilly, so many options on who could be the next champ

Splash from the top through the table that Malakai was wrapped in barbed wire on.
He either hesitated or didn’t jump far enough and hit pretty much an elbow drop. But came down legs first instead of laying out.

But came down legs first instead of laying out. Yea, just isn’t something you see from Edge in terms of that big of a miss. He’s typically more calculated and that move for him doesn’t seem like that big of a deal.
