Anyone have a podcast or audiobook I could listen to on Juneteenth? I have the day off. I'll be mainly working on getting caught up on yard and house work so listening to something Juneteenth related to educate myself better is the best way for me to "celebrate."
Thoughts?

This is why Florida and other states in the Bible belt are so adamant about removing black history from schools. It takes a mature mind to be able to digest some of the horrific state-sponsored oppression that has happened in this country. People like DeSantis don't want to face that history. It makes them more comfortable to just keep saying America is perfect and move on. |

I've also seen it said that it wasn't a just a random(one) massacre of balcks by hwites, but retaliation after unprompted shoostings by the balcks against hwites.
I wish you could still trust things you read.

I wish you could still trust things you read. That's a case of history being rewritten by people who would prefer to clean up the barbarism. There are many similar cases of unprovoked violence all over this country from that era. Hell, it even happened in Chicago in the 1940s when they tried to integrate some of the neighborhoods. It's why the projects were built where they were built, and why they were designed to house so many people. |

Yeah I know it's all BS.
And the history of the city and why the Dan Ryan was built where it was, as well as the fights against integration. I was told those stories as a kid by people bragging about it, unfortunately.
