I watched both and agree with randomone. I was also thinking "don't kiss the bracelet, don't kiss the bracelet, don't kiss the bracelet, ohhhhh."

Getting caught up on this thread. Shouldn’t the Drew/Punk match have been just a standard beat the fuck out of each other kind and not the buckle tappin one? This is a blood feud, turned into a bracelet feud, so I guess this fits. Again, haven’t seen the match, but do you think they went the buckle tap route as a way to limit how intense the match was so not to risk another Punk injury? That’s a legit question. You can make the match more about cinema and can they/can’t they reach the buckle instead of just whipping the holy fuck out of each other. Typical AEW defender finding a way to shit on WWE. Just like a Caitlin Clark defender finding ways to shit on Angel Reese.

Seriously though, the only think I didn't like about the strap match was the addition of the lights. The "tapping the corner" part was fine.
The match was a "beat the fuck out of each other" match.

I guess because I was so let down by Summerslam that round 2 didn’t make me want to go out of my way to check it out live. Enough with that fucking bracelet!
I also was hoping for a Starks/Danielson level of strap match and it sounds like that’s not what this was. Starks’ best AEW match IMO. Last years All Out, that fucking ruled so much.
So do you do Round 3 in Hell in a Cell? If they were, you’d think Drew wouldn’t have been beaten so definitively. But then again, maybe this gives him a “you never pinned me” out? Who knows.
If they do the Cell, the bracelet needs to be done for.

Punk says he's done with Drew but who knows.

I've seen that criticism from others too, and I don't get it. It was a violent, whip each other, and throw each other all around match.
It had Punk bleeding too.
It honestly feels like people complaining because it is WWE and Punk. Not you (necessarily), but others online.

I haven’t seen it so my impressions are solely on the majority of reviews.

I could see Punk being done with Drew, but Drew not being done with Punk.

I could see Punk being done with Drew, but Drew not being done with Punk. That's what I think. Punk maybe gets a match with Gunther and Drew costs him. They're too good together to end it right now.
