Interestingly enough I thought JR sounded the best he had in ages.
I mean he had to call the Mox attempted suffocation of Danielson and also the main event. He sounded like a real person watching this happen and not a trained wrestling fan.
I kind of thought it was refreshing.
As for the rest of the crew, Excalibur was fine, Tony was fine, Taz is a babyface for everyone but Mercedes who he loves and it’s weird as it was he & Tony bickering like a married couple the whole match.
Nigel, aside from shitting on Danielson every chance he gets, has been the best commentator of the crew IMO.

The stuff after the opener with Garcia piledriving MJF, Excalibur with the somber tones and admonishing the babyface, just seemed forced and silly.
The insanity during the Danielson attack as well. "I've never seen anything like this!". My man, you saw a 300 pound dude tossed 25 feet off a cage roof. Twice. You just had a guy threaten to set another one on fire a few months ago. Maybe tone down the histrionics.
The somber tones during the main event. Tony and Excalibur were brutal.

Excalibur & Tony should’ve laid out for JR to be the lead in the main event. I thought he added to the match.
I also agree with the Daddy Magic comment. I thought he was great in the opener, as he was at least had investment in the match.
Man in the Mask and Tony are overkill at times, I’ll give you that

Very interesting. I was wondering why Shida kinda whiffed on her finisher once, waffled Mercedes with it the second time, then kind of hit it a THIRD TIME only for Mercedes to kick out AT ONE and they just rushed to that dumb kendo stick spot.
I wouldn’t say it’s the fun thing to shit on Mercedes matches, it’s just that she’s consistently looked off since coming to AEW. Her finisher is so awful that it leaves her ending of each win look very flat. Unless the girl is smaller than her (which is rare considering how tiny she is) then she struggles to hit it.
Again said it before, it just feels like she’s on vacation from WWE and just waiting to go back. She’s never felt full “All Elite” if that makes sense.

Just do the backstabber into the cross face and call that the Mone Maker. No one will care and just call it that going forward.
There’s zero impact at all to her current finisher and it looks horrible 99 times out of 100

- Okada vs. Takeshita vs. Orange vs. Briscoe - 4.25
- Mercedes vs. Shida - 2.75
- Danielson vs. Perry - 4.75
- Hangman vs. Swerve (Steel Cage Match) - 4.5
He said Willow/Stat was the best American women’s match of the year (I wouldn’t argue if someone gave it 5, that match was incredible). I was surprised how high Danielson/Perry was, probably would’ve gone 4.25 for me. Mercedes match the lowest on the PPV for the second straight show.
And just because it’ll drive folks nuts, this is Ospreay’s 10th 5 star+ match of the year.
