Ben Affleck as Hulk Hogan, brought to you by the casting department of Iron Claw. Wasn't there a movie in the works with Chris Hemsworth as Hogan? Whatever happened to that?

Ben Affleck as Hulk Hogan, brought to you by the casting department of Iron Claw. Wasn't there a movie in the works with Chris Hemsworth as Hogan? Whatever happened to that? Two big things out of this article. “Hogan revealed last year that his biopic with Netflix, slated to star Chris Hemsworth, had been delayed after a "business glitch," and he had decided to move on. But PWInsider now reports that a screenplay based on Hogan's 2013 lawsuit with Gawker has been circulating in Hollywood, picking up considerable steam, and is expected to move forward in the coming days.” Bummer on Hemsworth but my guess is the business glitch was money. If not that, the creative kept changing due to to the day of the week with Hogan. Now we’re potentially getting Affleck during the Hulk fucked Bubba’s wife era? 😂

This was such a wild time. Luger was red hot. And only held the title for 5 days, losing that weekend at Road Wild. I know the end game was Sting at Starrcade, but why did they need Hogan to win it back so soon? Next month Hogan vs Piper in Age in the Cage didn’t need the World Title and Luger went to a no contest with Scott Hall. Cut to World War 3, Luger was just a guy and Hogan popped up briefly in the main event.

Just another example of Hogan's ego. I also forgot how often WCW events ended with people just throwing shit in the ring LOL

I thought it was admitted by Bischoff that Hogan wanted to win the title in front of the Sturgis attendees at Road Wild. That was the point. Bischoff might have thrown in “anything can happen” but that was the real reason.

While I miss the Glorious Bomb, this has been a pretty great series. Great cameo at the end in this one

Random tidbit. Insane to think about from a per household stat.
“ On June 28, 1999 the most watched wrestling match in cable television history occurred on WWF’s Monday Night Raw as "Stone Cold" Steve Austin defeated The Undertaker (with Paul Bearer) to win the WWF Heavyweight Championship at the Charlotte Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina. The match had a 9.5 rating and an estimated 10.7 million viewers. That translates into 1 out of every 6 television’s that had cable were tuned into this match. The win gave Stone Cold his fourth WWF Heavyweight Championship reign.”

I’m ok with a squash match but what the fuck? Back to back that late in the show? Dear god.

It just occurred to me that Chris Jericho made his WWF debut on this day 25 years ago. My dumbass was watching Nitro and missed it completely. But Hogan returned to the red and yellow that night, so there's that.
