Another member of the Petty family apparently doesn't think much of Danica Patrick's driving ability. Richard Petty, the "King" of NASCAR who holds the all-time record with 200 wins, told the website Wheels.ca that Patrick was only capable of winning if no other cars were on the track. "(Only) if everybody else stayed home," Petty told the site during an appearance at the Canadian Motorsports Expo in Toronto. Petty's son, TV analyst and former driver Kyle Petty, said Patrick was "not a race car driver" last year and never would be because she was just a "marketing machine." But Richard Petty told Wheels.ca he believed Patrick was good for NASCAR despite her lack of ability, because NASCAR has evolved into "show time" since the days he raced. "If she'd have been a male, nobody would ever know if she'd showed up at a race track," Petty said. "This is a female deal that's driving her. There's nothing wrong with that, because that's good PR for me. More fans come out, people are more interested in it. She has helped to draw attention to the sport, which helps everybody in the sport." www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nascar/2014/02/10/danica-patrick-richard-petty-daytona-500-2014/5359575/

Yeah, the Petty's should just probably keep those thoughts inside the Petty circle, not real smart on their part. But, who is to say they are very smart in the 1st place.

Tony is a marketing genius. I would LOVE to see Danica go one on one with the King!!!
Tony Stewart rips The King over Danica comments
PUBLISHED 21 minutes and 4 seconds ago Bob Pockrass Sporting News
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Tony Stewart has an idea for what Danica Patrick should do if she wins a race.
Stewart, appearing Wednesday on the Performance Racing Network syndicated radio show "Fast Talk from Daytona Beach," stuck up for his driver Patrick, who was the subject of criticism from Hall of Famer Richard Petty last week.
Earlier this month, when asked if Patrick could win a race, Petty said: “If everybody else stayed home.”
During the show Wednesday, host Doug Rice suggested Patrick should take the checkered flag to Petty for an autograph after her first win.
Stewart’s thoughts?
"If I were her, I'd take if over there and cram it up his (butt), if it were me," Stewart said, playing to the crowd. "But that's just me."
Patrick has brushed off the comments, which Petty has stood by. Stewart has tried to let the comments go but couldn’t.
“I’ve tried to steer away from it, but it’s like, man, did he really think about what he said before he said it?” Stewart said.
Stewart wanted to set up a head-to-head race between Patrick and Petty.
“I told her she should challenge Richard to a heads-up race,” Stewart said. “I think that would pretty much settle it once and for all, maybe get him to shut up a little bit, too.”
As far as that match race, Stewart said he would supply the cars and setups.
“He can drive one of my (No.) 14 cars, I don’t care,” Stewart said.
Stewart said on the show that NASCAR has changed a great deal since Petty won 200 races.
“He drove in an era when he had cars that were superior to what everybody else was running a lot,” Stewart said. “I think he forgets that NASCAR has changed a lot since he was a driver and how hard it really is now.”

Smoke is losing it. I can't stand Logano but when he went after him last year he really had no good reason to other than he was having a hot headed reaction. This is even more absurd. You can't go a trivialize The King's career by suggesting that Danica could beat him in a one on one race now that he is 80 years old. She is fucking terrible. Everyone that has ever watched her race knows this. She is a marketing machine. You know this Smoke...you know this.

Richard Petty to Danica: I ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE ... Let's Race!3 minutes ago BY TMZ STAFF Gentlemen ... and ladies ... start your engines -- 'cause Richard Petty says he's ABSOLUTELY DOWN to race Danica Patrick in a 1-on-1 grudge match after trading shots in the media. Of course, this whole thing started when Petty criticized Danica's crappy record -- and D.P.'s friend/team owner Tony Stewart said Petty and Patrick should settle their beef on the track. Well, today ... Petty went on "Fox and Friends" and said HE ACCEPTS. ”Yeah you know, I’m 76 years old ... and it’s been 25 years since I’ve been in a racecar, but I’ll take that challenge.” He then asked, "When's this gonna happen?" Good question -- ball seems to be in Danica's court now. Read more: www.tmz.com/2014/02/21/richard-petty-to-danica-patrick-i-accept-your-challenge-lets-race/#ixzz2tzCf1Xlh

Take that, kesha!! Baby steps: Danica is improving, and the numbers don't lieTom Jensen FOX Sports MAR 27, 2014 4:30p ET In her second full season of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series racing, Danica Patrick is absolutely improving and showing progress after a disappointing rookie campaign in 2013. The numbers don't lie. If you throw out Daytona, where Patrick was taken out in a crash not of her own making, Patrick is doing much better this year than last. In the four races from Phoenix to Auto Club Speedway, Patrick's average finish this year was 22.50, compared with 30.75 for the same four races a year earlier. In all four of the those races -- Phoenix, Las Vegas, Bristol and ACS -- Patrick finished better than she did in the same event last year. And for the first time in her Cup career, Patrick has finished in the top 25 three races in a row. She's also improved her finishing position in each of the last four races, culminating with a 14th-place run at ACS. Is she challenging for victories yet? Nope. But she's improving, which is the critical first step. And she's moved from 39th to 27th in points in the last four races. This weekend, the Sprint Cup Series races at tiny Martinsville Speedway, a place where many top drivers struggle, yet a place where Patrick feels at home. Last year, she finished 12th in the spring race here and 17th in the fall race, making Patrick's average Martinsville finish 14.5. That's her best at any Cup track to date. With all that in mind, Patrick and crew chief Tony Gibson are looking forward to Sunday's STP 500 at Martinsville. "Our finishes have steadily improved the last three weeks, which has given the team a good boost," said Patrick. "We had two good runs at Martinsville last year, so I feel good heading into this week. Tony Gibson has had a lot of success there and knows how to set up a car for Martinsville. It's a tough place, very tight with a lot of beating and banging, but hopefully we can stay out of trouble and have a good run." Patrick attributed her improving finishes this year to faster cars, which she said have made her more competitive. "We've had really good cars every week and have been fast," Patrick said. "We just didn't have any luck in the first two weeks. We've rebounded nicely and have been able to get everything pointing in the right direction. I'm proud of the team for the hard work and effort to help dig us out of the hole we were in. We've improved each week and hopefully we can keep doing that." Gibson said testing at the short oval at Rockingham Speedway in North Carolina helped prep Patrick for the rigors of Martinsville. "We went and did some testing at 'Little Rock' and that really paid off," Gibson said. "It really helped us get her in that rhythm. We knew when we left there that it might not be a bad deal for us. She was pretty sporty at Little Rock. We were able to go up to Martinsville and get a good 12th-place finish and I think we were all kind of looking at each other going, 'What just happened here?' We went back in the fall and had another good run -- we didn't finish as well, but were still strong. Our car was really good again and she did a really good job." Now the challenge is to build on what the team has done in the past and continue to improve. "We're pumped to go there, but Martinsville is a place where you can go and think you're going to run really well and it will dish out a case of 'humble' to you," said Gibson. "It's a tough place and you're fighting the beating and the banging all day. But we're positive and excited to get there." msn.foxsports.com/nascar/story/baby-steps-danica-is-improving-and-the-numbers-don-t-lie-032714?cmpid=tsmtw:fscom:NASCARonFOX

Let's talk about Kyle Larson finishing where Danica never will...2nd place and he is just getting started.

I still can't get over what a bunch of shit that story is. She has been awful this year. Half the field blew tires because they were running hard last week and she cruised by their broke down cars. She was a 30-35th place car until all those guys blew tires. In Bristol it was the same thing. She sat in the back a lap down and just let the other cars actually race and wreck....and she caused a wreck that took out Kenseth....and the pit road mess with the bullshit 4th gear only story.
